Casey, Dann and More Cast In Chocolate Factory's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, From June 2014

Anna-Jane Casey, Sophie-Louise Dann, Damian Humbley and Ben Lewis will star in New York's longest running comedy revue, FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, which returns to the Chocolate Factory from 19 June. This updated version of the show showcases some of the best productions from both Broadway and the West End, including The Book of Mormon, Once, Matilda, Wicked and Miss Saigon!

Public Theater's 2014 Gala, ONE THRILLING COMBINATION, to Tribute Marvin Hamlisch on 6/23

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that the 2014 Public Theater Annual Gala will present ONE THRILLING COMBINATION, a gala event directed by Ted Sperling celebrating Marvin Hamlisch, The Public Theater and the creation of A Chorus Line on Monday, June 23 at the Delacorte Theater. This unforgettable summer evening will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the creation of The Public's groundbreaking musical, A Chorus Line, and the legendary man behind the music, Marvin Hamlisch, in a one-night-only, star-studded gala to support The Public Theater. Renee Beaumont and Lizanne Rosenstein will serve as Gala Co-Chairs for this memorable evening in Central Park.

In last week's AMERICAN IDOL recap I mused that some enterprising theatre producer should snag the stage rights to the Jack Black movie SCHOOL OF ROCK and cast IDOL front-runner Caleb Johnson in the lead role. In addition, earlier in the season, I said that Caleb should cover a song by Meat Loaf, a Broadway vet three times over. So, that got me thinking, if I were going to fantasy cast the AMERICAN IDOL Top-5 in classic and "potential" musicals, what shows would work best?

Chazz Palminteri Stars in World Premiere Play UNORGANIZED CRIME, Beg. Tonight at the Elephant Theatre

Unorganized Crime, LLC presents a world premiere play, UNORGANIZED CRIME, written by Kenny D'Aquila, directed by David Fofi and starring Chazz Palminteri ('A Bronx Tale,' 'Bullets Over Broadway'). UNORGANIZED CRIME will preview tonight, April 26 at 8pm; Monday, April 28, Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30 at 8pm and will open on Thursday, May 1 at 7pm and run through Sunday, May 25 at the Elephant Theatre, 1076 N. Lillian Way. (at Santa Monica Blvd., one block west of Vine) in Hollywood.

COMMUNIQUE N°10 Opens Tonight at the Cutting Ball Theater

Cutting Ball Theater closes its 15th season with the American Premiere of COMMUNIQUE N°10 by French playwright Samuel Gallet, in a translation by Cutting Ball Artistic director Rob Melrose, who also helms this new work. Featuring Damien Seperi, Ponder Goddard, Maura Halloran, Wiley Naman Strasser, Paris Hunter Paul, Hugo Cabajal, and Aaron Malberg, COMMUNIQUE N°10 plays tonight, April 25 through May 25 (Press opening: May 1) at the Cutting Ball Theater in residence at EXIT on Taylor (277 Taylor Street) in San Francisco.

Marin Alsop Conducts BSO in Mahler's TITAN Tonight

Music Director Marin Alsop will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in Mahler's Symphony No. 1, 'Titan' and Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini tonight, April 24 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Sendai International Music Competition and 2012 William Kapell International Piano Competition winner Yekwon Sunwoo joins the BSO to perform Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. 'Titan' is also the subject of Maestra Alsop's final Off the Cuff concert of the 2013-2014 season, Friday, April 25 at 8:15 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore and Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Meyerhoff.

MCC THEATER will present Greta Gerwig, Max Baker, Jason Butler Harner, Lucy Owen, Cara Seymour, and Scott Shepherd in the American premiere of Penelope Skinner's celebrated play The Village Bike, the final production of MCC's 2013-14 Main Stage season. The Village Bike, directed bySam Gold, who recently directed the much-raved new musical Fun Home and this season's The Realistic Jones on Broadway, will premiere at The Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) beginning May 22, 2014 with an official opening on June 10, 2014.
