Bainbridge Performing Art's 2014 - 2015 season opener is LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a household name, thanks to a highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. American mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton--recent winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition--will make her Company debut as Adalgisa for five of the opera's seven performances today, September 5 and September 10, 14, 27 and 30. Ms. Barton replaces Daveda Karanas, who has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons. A casting update for the September 19 & 23 performances will be announced at a later date.

Little Shop of Horrors will open the new season at Theatre Lawrence, September 19-October 5! Winner of the best musical of 1983, this affectionate spoof of 1950's Sci-fi movies became one of Off Broadway's longest running shows. First seen as the 1960's black comedy by Roger Corman and screenplay by Charles Griffith, featuring Jack Nicholson, it then opened as the rock horror musical in 1982. The show combines the musical styles of 60's rock 'n' roll, do-wop and MoTown and includes several well known tunes such as Skid Row (Downtown), Somewhere That's Green, and Suddenly, Seymour.

Broadway In Chicago has announced that I LOVE LUCY LIVE ON STAGE, the hit stage show adapted from the most beloved program in television history, which is produced under license from CBS Consumer Products, will return to Chicago by popular demand during its 2014-15 National Tour. The production, which began with extended sit-down productions in Los Angeles and Chicago and became an audience favorite across the country, will play the Bank of America Theatre (18 W Monroe) Dec. 9 through Dec. 14, 2014.
