Barking Rain Press, a non-profit fiction publisher, announced the paperback and eBook release of the noir thriller "Stress Fractures" by New Hampshire author J.E. Seymour. "Stress Fractures" is the second book in the "Kevin Markinson" series; "Lead Poisoning" was the first book in the series. A third book, "Frostbite," is also planned. Everyone has a breaking point, but mob 'troubleshooter' Kevin Markinson hasn't been broken... yet. Serving as a Marine sniper in Vietnam didn't make him snap. Working as a CIA assassin didn't faze him. Doing time in prison for a crime he didn't commit was hard, but he managed to keep his tough and cool façade in place. But when his mob boss decides to break him out of prison, he begins to discover cracks in his armor as things go from bad to worse. Little fissures open larger stress fractures as first he is injured and then taken hostage by a gang of thugs-along with a teenager. With law enforcement closing in, can Markinson keep himself from falling completely apart long enough to protect the kid and avoid a return trip to prison? Ask for "Stress Fractures" at your favorite bookstore, or buy it online at the Barking Rain Press website, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Powells, Waterstones, and many other Internet bookstores. It is also available as an eBook through Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, iTunes iBooks, Kobo, InkBok, Content Reserve/Overdrive, the Barking Rain Press website and many other outlets worldwide. There have been a lot of versions of Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's (book, music and lyrics) GREASE that I've seen over the years. Only one, New Line Theatre's brilliant staging a few years back, actually adhered to the musical as originally conceived. The majority have followed the template laid down by the 1978 movie version that was tailored to fit the stars; Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. That's the version currently gracing the stage of The MUNY, although it features a number of interesting changes, beginning with a choral version of the opening "Alma Mater" that actually utilizes the lyrics to the song "We Go Together". It's certainly an entertaining ride, and is much improved in many ways over the version staged here back in 2007.

1980s phenomenon pop artist Keith Haring has a problem. Make that two problems. 1) He's in a coma in February 1990, about to die. 2) The Man Who Knows Things and The Woman Who Knows (two beings that may or may not be gods) say his art's going to kill lots of people-unless he travels back to key points in his own life and agrees to destroy it. The horrible thing is, they might be right…

'Lead Poisoning' is the first book in the 'Kevin Markinson' series. The second book, 'Stress Fractures' will be published in August 2014, and a third book, 'Frostbite,' is also planned. A former Marine sniper who is also a fugitive for a crime he didn't commit, Kevin soon finds a greater challenge when he returns home and tries to settle down with his wife and two sons... who are little more than strangers. And while his family might not want him back in their lives, his mob bosses can't seem to do without his services-forcing Kevin to juggle between the dark world of organized crime, his role as a husband and father, and his need to keep one step ahead of the law. If he can't, he stands to lose everything - including his freedom. 'Dance is a metaphor for expression, for freedom. In Footloose we use dance to express ourselves when we have no words. [As characters] we are all closed off, and finally at the end of the story, we are loosened; we become individuals again.' Speaking is Kristen Martin, who plays Ariel in Maine State Music Theatre's final season production of Footloose, which runs from August 6-23. Her co-star, Eric Sciotto, agrees that his character, Ren, is 'on a journey to find himself after being abandoned by his father. Ren sees in Ariel a troubled soul who reminds him of himself. They recognize immediately that they are kindred spirits.'
