Barbara Cook's Debut Solo Album to be Released on CD in June

?Stage Door Records are pleased to announce the debut CD release of Barbara Cook's first solo album SONGS OF PERFECT PROPRIETY BY DOROTHY PARKER on June 17th 2016. The release continues Stage Door's COLLECTOR'S SERIES, a line of limited edition CD products that celebrate Broadway shows and vocalists of the 1950s and 60s.

Broadway Legend Barbara Cook Will Return to the Stage This Spring in BARBARA COOK: THEN AND NOW

Producer Roy Furman, in association with Sandy Robertson and Luigi Caiola, just announced the return to the stage of one of the greatest voices and storytellers of our time. The legendary Tony and Grammy Award winner Barbara Cook will share the stories and songs that shaped her life and career in Barbara Cook: Then and Now, a candid and intimate evening conceived by 3-time Tony Award winner James Lapine and directed by 10-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune.

CHIAROSCURO AND CHUMS Play the Ware Center Tonight

The Ware Center presents a premiere performance that brings music, humor, dance, and visual art together for one beautiful masterpiece titled, Chiaroscuro and Chums, tonight, March 11 at 7:30 pm. Chiaroscuro is certainly not an everyday word but a great descriptor of what we can look forward to on stage. An Italian word for light-dark, Chiaroscuro is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. Friends, “Chums” will join together to bring us an never-before-seen performance entertaining our eyes and ears, with pieces that explore opposites taking us from serious to humorous, and beyond.

Tammy Grimes & David Amram to be Honored at Theater for the New City's LOVE N' COURAGE Benefit

The two-time Tony Award-winning actress Tammy Grimes (PRIVATE LIVES, THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN) and composer David Amram (scores for the films SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS and THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE) will be honored at Theater for the New City's 12th annual LOVE 'N COURAGE evening on Monday, March 2 at 6 p.m. The National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South), it has been announced by Crystal Field, TNC's Executive Director (and an actress who appeared in SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS). Ms. Grimes will be awarded Theater for the New City's LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.

Theater for the New City, Crystal Field, Executive Director, and The After Dinner Opera Company present two new American operatic musical adaptations from classical works, Seymour Barab's operatic parody Out the Window based upon Georges Feydeux's farce 'Par La Fenetre;' and Rappaccini's Daughter, based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's gothic short story, with libretto by Linsey Abrams and music by Michael Cohen. Lissa Moira directs. Performances will be staged at the Cino Theatre at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (bet. 9th and 10th Streets), New York, NY 10003 from tonight, September 11-28, 2014.

AT&T Donates $30,000 to Miami-Dade Public School Music Programs

The Young Patronesses of the Opera (YPO) organization is the proud recipient of a generous grant from AT&T to support their In School Opera program that reaches out to 30,000 school children each year. Now in its 39th season, the 2014 tour began in January and will run until early April performing "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" by Seymour Barab. This 30-minute production with full sets, costumes and live music tell the story through music and humor of the Piper who helps a town in need and teaches integrity. Each student receives a workbook created by YPO education committee members with poems, music, games and puzzles to help the students learn the story and music. Additionally, teachers receive a companion study guide using Florida's Sunshine Standards to enhance their student's critical thinking and evaluative skills.

YPO Continues In School Opera Program with THE PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN thru April 2014

The Young Patronesses of the Opera (YPO) organization will present the 39th season of their In School Opera program that reaches out to 30,000 school children in Dade and Broward counties. The 2014 tour began in January and will run until early April performing 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin' by Seymour Barab.

Franklin Performing Arts Company Announces Free Family Concert Series Opera for Kids

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will present Opera for Kids: Little Red Riding Hood on Sunday, March 17, at 1:00 p.m. at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), 38 Main Street. This special program is the third presentation in FPAC's Family Concert Series and is offered free to the community. Opera for Kids and all FPAC Family Concerts are especially geared toward young audiences in length and format.
