On this day, we're celebrating the birthday of Golden Globe-nominated actor Armie Hammer who is currently making his Broadway debut in Second Stage's Straight White Men. 

ASU Gammage announced today that the Tony Award-winning musical set a new record for fastest sellout of a show at the historic Frank Lloyd Wright theater by selling out of all available tickets during the show's fan presale, leaving no tickets for the general public onsale. Demand for DEAR EVAN HANSEN and the Broadway season at ASU Gammage reached new levels this year and the show sold out in less than an hour of ASU Gammage and DEAR EVAN HANSEN fan presales.

IAMA Theatre Company opens its 2018-19 season with a darkly comic celebration of the power of teamwork and unity to overcome adversity. James Eckhouse directs the Los Angeles premiere ofAmerican Hero, opening Sept. 21 in aPasadena Playhouse guest production at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre. Performances will continue through Oct. 21, with low-priced previews beginning Sept. 15.

San Francisco Playhouse will celebrate the opening of the 10th Season of its Sandbox Series with the original production of graveyard shift, written by Korde Arrington Tuttle. Melissa Crespo will direct.

New Ohio Theatre and The Mill present the New York premiere of Mark Chrisler's WORSE THAN TIGERS, directed by Jaclyn Biskup. WORSE THAN TIGERS runs from August 24 - September 8, 2018 in a limited engagement at New Ohio Theatre, located at 154 Christopher Street between Greenwich and Washington Streets in New York City. Previews begin August 24 for an August 26 opening.

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced casting for The Color Purple, directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle. Cast members from the 2015 Broadway revival lead the Paper Mill Playhouse company, including Adrianna Hicks (Aladdin, Sister Act - Germany) as Celie, Carla R. Stewart (Ghost - National Tour, Rent - Regional) as Shug Avery and Carrie Compere (Holler If You Hear Me,Shrek the Musical - National Tour) as Sofia. 

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) FUN Company presents an ENCORE REMOUNT of the original work SUPER! The Musical, written by award-winning FringeNYC show Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever playwright, Sarah Shulman,with lyrics by Caitlyn Joy, and music by Callan Holderbaum. This encore presentation will run for a limited time before making its way to FringeNYC in October. SUPER! The Musical is one of only three theatre for young audience shows chosen for inclusion in the festival.

The OBIE Award-winning NAATCO, National Asian American Theatre Company, kicks off their 28th season with Stephen Brown-Fried's new adaptation of Shakespeare's Henry VI. This Off-Broadway limited engagement at the Mezzanine Theatre at A.R.T./New York Theaters (502 West 53rd Street at Tenth Avenue) opens Tuesday August 21st (Part 1) and Wednesday August 22nd (Part 2).  Performances continue through September 8th only.

Come see the weekend run of John Patrick Shanley's dramedy "Women of Manhattan: An Upper Westside Story" at The Broadwater Theater! A refreshing and humorous tale of female friendship.

Betrayed by authorities and forced to survive no matter the cost, ONAJE opens in the 1980s with an explosive encounter that threatens to uncover long-buried secrets from a desperate past. Written by Robert Bowie, Jr., directed by Pat Golden, and produced by Susan Conover Marinello, ONAJE will run for five performances, October 13 - 21, in New York City.

Freemove Dance in partnership with The Theater at the 14th Street Y presents the world premiere of …it's time… The company makes its debut with this evening-length production dealing with intricacies of human relationship to time, choreographed by Jenn Freeman, with the original score by renowned percussionist/drummer Dani Markham (Tune-Yards, Childish Gambino).

Now entering its 56th season, the New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) is launching a Musical Theater Composition (MTC) program, to be led by newly-appointed director Anna K. Jacobs. In a partnership with the Harlem School of the Arts, this new program aims to diversify the world of musical theater by creating opportunities for young composers to have their compositions workshopped and performed by both peers and professionals.

Today Keen announced the cast for the fourth musical, the first NY revival of Adam Gwon's acclaimed Ordinary Days: Whitney Bashor (The Bridges of Madison County), Marc delaCruz (If/Then), Sarah Lynn Marion (2013 Jimmy awards winner), and Kyle Sherman (Pete the Cat) will star. 

You Me At Six today continue their emphatic return with the release of their brand new single 'Back Again', launching as Annie Mac's 'Hottest Record' on BBC Radio 1. The track is taken from their new sixth studio album VI, out October 5th via AWAL, releasing under their new Underdog Records imprint.  

OKLAHOMA! opens at Artisan Center Theater on Friday, August 31, 2018 and runs through Saturday, September 29, 2018. The 196 seat theater-in-the-round is located at 444 East Pipeline Road in Hurst. Performances are at 7:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with 3:00pm matinees on Saturdays beginning September 8. Reserved seating tickets are $24.00 for adults, $22.00 for students and seniors, and $12.00 for children 12 and under.  Monday through Thursday tickets are $22.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 12 and under. From September 14 to October 13, 2018, SpeakEasy Stage Company will proudly present the New England premiere of the 2015 Pulitzer Prize-winning play BETWEEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY.  

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced full casting for the new Broadway production of Sam Shepard's TRUE WEST, directed by James Macdonald, starring acclaimed screen and stage actors Ethan Hawke as "Lee" and Paul Dano as "Austin." Marylouise Burke and Gary Wilmes join the cast as "Mom" and "Saul Kimmer."

Sally Field and Bill Pullman will star as Kate and Joe Keller in Arthur Miller's All My Sons, directed by Jeremy Herrin, in a co-production with Headlong Theatre at The Old Vic in Spring 2019. Further casting and dates are to be announced.

The Marsh San Francisco adds more free performances of Brian Copeland's The Waiting Period, due to ongoing support from a GoFundMe campaign and generous corporate contributions from Fremont Bank and OSIsoft in San Leandro. This deeply moving and surprisingly funny work outlines Copeland's own struggles with depression and suicidal thought, and is presented at no cost to remove all barriers for those who may be struggling with depression themselves.

Producer David Binder just announced today that Golden Globe Award Winner and Emmy Award Nominee Keri Russell will join three-time Emmy Award nominee Adam Driver in the first revival of Pulitzer Prize Winner Lanford Wilson's BURN THIS. Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, BURN THIS will begin performances in March 2019 at a Broadway theater to be announced.
