Spectrum Dance Theater to Present A RAP ON RACE

 Spectrum Dance Theater, in association with Seattle Repertory Theatre, presents the 'genre obliterating' world premiere dance theater production A Rap On Racebased on the iconic 1970 conversation on race between James Baldwin and Margaret Mead. Co-created by TONY-nominated and Bessie Award-winning director/choreographer Donald Byrd and Pulitzer-nominated and MacArthur Award-winning actress/playwright Anna Deavere Smith, A Rap on Race enlivens the current conversation around race and equity, mixing dance and theatre to create a fully original, groundbreaking artistic work. Philadelphia Theatre Company to Stage Lucas Hnath's HILLARY AND CLINTON

Philadelphia Theatre Company closes its 2015-2016 season with the East Coast premiere of Lucas Hnath's Hillary and Clinton May 27-June 26.  Directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, the production features an ensemble cast with Todd Cerveris, Alice M. Gatling, John Procaccino, and Lindsay Smiling.

BWW Review: Rep's SHERLOCK HOLMES Lacks Some Grace But It's Still Holmes

Back in 2013 the Seattle Rep gave us a lovely Christmas Present with R. Hamilton Wright and David Pichette's wonderful adaptation of "The Hound of the Baskervilles". So when they announced that they would be ending this season with more Holmes from Wright with "Sherlock Holmes and the American Problem", naturally there was a lot of excitement and anticipation for more from this team. And while the team is still on point and while it's still more Sherlock goodness, this original Holmes mystery from Wright doesn't quite have the elegance and grace of a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle piece.

Artistic Director Braden Abraham today announced Seattle Repertory Theatre's 2016-2017 Season. The season is headlined by the electrifying musical Here Lies Love from David Byrne (Talking Heads) and Fatboy Slim, a new production ofthe award-winning Broadway smash King Charles III, and the timeless classic A Raisin in the Sun. ArtsWest to Present DEATH OF A SALESMAN

This thrilling work lays bare the raw emotions of love, the desire for success, and then need for compassion in a horror story of shame, guilt and expectations run amok.

Bristol Riverside Theatre to Close 2015-16 Season with MAN OF LA MANCHA

Bristol Riverside Theatre concludes its 2015-2016 season daring audiences to "dream the impossible dream" with the ever-popular musical Man of La Mancha running May 10-June 5.  With music by Mitch Leigh, lyrics by Joe Darion, and book by Dale Wasserman, the production is directed by Keith Baker and features the triumphant return of Gypsy star Robert Newman, joined by Sharon Alexander, Julian Brightman, Lauren Cupples, Robert Farruggia, Tamra Hayden, Christopher Roche, Danny Rutigliano, Dwayne Alistair Thomas, and Danny Vaccaro.  The cast is supplemented by the ensemble of Rajeer Alford, Daniel Bontempo, Elena Camp, Will Connell, Stephan Dagrosa, John DiFerdinando, Adam Hoyak, Kevin Murray, and Victor Rodriguez.

Seattle Rep Installs Induction Hearing Loops

With great excitement, Seattle Repertory Theatre today announced the installation of induction hearing loops in both its Bagley Wright and Leo K. Theatres, as well as throughout the theatre's lobby, significantly enhancing the listening experience for theatre patrons with hearing loss. Induction loop technology is prevalent in theatres and opera houses throughout the UK and Scandinavia, but widespread use in the United States has only started in recent years. To date, Seattle Rep is one of only three institutions in the greater Seattle area to install this high performance, user-friendly assistive listening system for those who are hard of hearing.

Seattle Shakespeare Company's 2016-17 Season to Feature HAMLET, THE WINTER'S TALE & More

Seattle Shakespeare Company's Artistic Director George Mount announced plans for the company's 2016-2017 season that includes a world premiere adaptation, pairings of plays exploring love and jealousy, and everyone's favorite fairy-filled fantasy. The plays included in the season are The Winter's Tale, Medea, the two-part epic Bring Down the House, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. The company previously announced its selection for the free Wooden O summer park shows: Hamlet and Love's Labour's Lost. In the spring of 2017 Seattle Shakespeare Company will tour The Taming of the Shrew and Romeo and Juliet to schools and venues across the state.

CATF Sets 2016 Season

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University has announced its 2016 line-up featuring five new American plays, including three world premieres. Theater Festival Producing Director Ed Herendeen has chosen scripts from Christina Anderson, Allison Gregory, Chisa Hutchinson, two-time OBIE-Award winner, Susan Miller, and Ronan Noone. 

HAND TO GOD, World Premieres & More on Tap for Victory Gardens' 2016-17 Season

Victory Gardens Theater, under the continued leadership of Artistic Director Chay Yew, announces the lineup for its 2016-2017 Season. Victory Gardens' 42nd Season will include the Chicago Premieres of Hand to God by Robert Askins, directed by Gary Griffin; Native Gardens by Karen Zacarias, directed by Marti Lyons; and the World Premieres of Roz and Ray by Karen Hartman, directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew; A Wonder in My Soul by Ensemble Playwright Marcus Gardley, directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew; and Queen by Madhuri Shekar, directed by Artistic Associate Joanie Schultz. The 42nd Season will also include a Bonus Series featuring the Chicago Premieres of Wrestling Jerusalem written and performed by Aaron Davidman, directed by Michael John Garces; St. Jude written and performed by Ensemble Playwright Luis Alfaro; and A Little Bit Not Normal written and performed by Arlene Malinowski.
