BWW Review: Rep's SHERLOCK HOLMES Lacks Some Grace But It's Still Holmes

Back in 2013 the Seattle Rep gave us a lovely Christmas Present with R. Hamilton Wright and David Pichette's wonderful adaptation of "The Hound of the Baskervilles". So when they announced that they would be ending this season with more Holmes from Wright with "Sherlock Holmes and the American Problem", naturally there was a lot of excitement and anticipation for more from this team. And while the team is still on point and while it's still more Sherlock goodness, this original Holmes mystery from Wright doesn't quite have the elegance and grace of a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle piece.

Ain Gordon World Premiere Set for Painted Bride Arts Center

1972: Dr. John Fryer dons an oversize tuxedo and rubber joke shop mask to become Dr. Henry Anonymous and confront the American Psychiatric Association with these words: 'I am a homosexual, I am a psychiatrist.' The latest work by renowned theatre artist Ain Gordon, 217 Boxes of Dr. Henry Anonymous, is a new play drawn from the 217 boxes of archive materials from national LGBT activist of Dr. John Fryer discovered by Ain Gordon during his two-year embedded artist status at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP). This new work is set to run, May 5-7, at the Painted Bride Arts Center, 230 Vine Street. All performances are at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20. Sheldon Epps Named TUTS' New Artistic Advsior

Theatre Under The Stars announced today that Sheldon Epps will lead the organization through its current transition. Epps will assume the role of Artistic Advisor supporting all aspects of the company.

Seattle Repertory Theatre Sets HERE LIES LOVE, A RAISIN IN THE SUN & More for 2016-17 Season

Artistic Director Braden Abraham today announced Seattle Repertory Theatre's 2016-2017 Season. The season is headlined by the electrifying musical Here Lies Love from David Byrne (Talking Heads) and Fatboy Slim, a new production ofthe award-winning Broadway smash King Charles III, and the timeless classic A Raisin in the Sun. The season runs from September 2016 through May 2017, and subscriptions are available now through the Seattle Rep Box Office at (206) 443-2222, as well as online at SeattleRep.org. Jennifer Ehle, Jefferson Mays and More to Lead Lincoln Center Theater's OSLO

Lincoln Center Theater will welcome Michael Aronov, Adam Dannheisser, Jennifer Ehle, Daniel Jenkins, Dariush Kashani, Jefferson Mays, Daniel Oreskes, Henny Russell, Joseph Siravo, and T. Ryder Smith in the cast of its upcoming production of OSLO, a new play by J.T. Rogers, directed by Bartlett Sher.

GAME OF SILENCE Star Michael Raymond-James to Lead BTG's CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF

Berkshire Theatre Group announces casting for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, with TV and Film actor, Michael Raymond-James as Brick. Neil Genzlinger (New York Times) suggests that Raymond-James is 'scary good," in NBC's new series Game of Silence, adding that he 'injects a sense of ominous unpredictability into this well-made revenge thriller." In addition, Michael Raymond-James has appeared in hit shows such as, True Blood and Once Upon a Time, as well as the feature films, Black Snake Moan with Justin Timberlake, and Jack Reacher with Tom Cruise.

ArtsWest to Present DEATH OF A SALESMAN

Under the direction of ArtsWest's Artistic Director Mathew Wright, Arthur Miller is brought to the stage in a stripped down, elegant and savage production of a tragic love story between father and son. This thrilling work lays bare the raw emotions of love, the desire for success, and then need for compassion in a horror story of shame, guilt and expectations run amok.

Stew & Heidi Rodewald to Appear on Stage at The Public in Their New Musical THE TOTAL BENT

The Public Theater announced today that Stew and Heidi Rodewald will perform live with the on-stage band for THE TOTAL BENT, playing the guitar and bass, respectively. With text by Stew and music by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the team behind the Tony Award-wining musical Passing Strange, which premiered at The Public in 2003, this world premiere musical is directed by Joanna Settle. Performances begin Tuesday, May 10 and continue through Sunday, June 12, with an official press opening on Wednesday, May 25.
