BWW Interviews: Sean MacLaughlin Talks Career and EVITA

Last week, while the U.S. National Tour of the Broadway Revival of EVITA was in San Antonio, I got the chance to chat with Sean MacLaughlin, who is playing Colonel Juan Peron, about the show and his career. Houston audiences will recognize him from last season's production of CAMELOT, produced by Theatre Under the Stars, where he played Lancelot.

BWW Reviews: EVITA - A New Rendition

EVITA won 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical and six Drama Desk Awards. If you never saw a live, production of "EVITA", GO SEE IT!

BWW Reviews: EVITA Enthralls Durham

Evita, a long-beloved musical from Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice, has landed in Durham for the week. The national tour follows a Broadway revival which played to New York audiences in 2012.

BWW Interviews: SEAN MacLAUGHLIN Talks EVITA

This production of EVITA is the most beautiful,... visually stunning. The re-conception of the orchestrations are wonderful. Audiences will really enjoy EVITA.

BWW Reviews: EVITA Soars at the Marcus Center

Evita opened at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday night. After seeing the production on Broadway last winter (and being thoroughly disappointed), I went into this performance with an open mind, hoping that the performance would be better than in New York. Luckily, this production outshone that of the Broadway one by far.

BWW Reviews: A New EVITA Missed a Few Notes

A new production of Evita just completed a run at Hennepin Theatre Trust's Orpheum in Minneapolis. High flying, adored: Che. Requiem for the Eva we know and loved: changes in the show both enhanced and detracted from the love of Eva Peron.

STAGE TUBE: Behind the Scenes - EVITA Tour and Tango Ballet in Denver

In this week's episode of 'In Focus', host Eden Lane sits down with two of the stars -- Caroline Bowman (Eva) and Sean MacLaughlin (Peron) -- of the EVITA tour, stopping in Denver this week. She also takes viewers behind the scenes for rehearsal of Parasol Arts new Tango Ballet, El Corazon de Tango - The Heart of Tango. Watch the interviews below!

This version features updated orchestrations, choreography and scenic design offering a more authentic portrait of Argentinean culture and Eva's rise to and fall from power. BWW Reviews: EVITA at the Paramount Has Its Moments, Even for a Non-Fan

I've never particularly warmed to Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Evita". Like most of his shows it just feels like a lot of flash and very little substance. So I can't really come at this production from the point of view of a fan of the show but I can point out some truly stirring performances within it.

EVITA's 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' Tissues

With perhaps the wittiest and most memorable promotional tool thought up in the theatre this year, the national tour of EVITA has introduced an image advertising faux tissue packets emblazoned with the show's iconic logo along with a reference to the mega-musical's biggest song, 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina'.

BWW Reviews: High-Flying, Adored Revival of EVITA Hits Hollywood

In one of this season's most pleasantly stunning surprises, the latest Broadway iteration of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's grand stage musical EVITA has arrived in Southern California at the beautiful Pantages Theatre in Hollywood (its three-week L.A. tour stop concludes November 10). A faithful, richly layered direct transfer of the show's 2012 Tony Award-nominated revival, this entertaining, vibrantly refreshed production expertly blends modern sensibilities with classic staging, all while highlighting what is arguably Webber and Rice's most interesting musical collaboration.

BWW Reviews: Dazzling and Poignant EVITA at the Fox Theatre

I have to confess that other than the misguided movie that was made out of EVITA, the only other presentation I'd seen was New Line Theatre's wonderfully intimate version a couple of years ago. So, I was curious as to how this show would play on a bigger venue's stage. I wasn't disappointed and you won't be either. The current production playing the Fox Theatre is a dazzling mixture of song (score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics and book by Tim Rice) and dance that's both engaging and thoroughly entertaining.

Krystina Alabado Discusses EVITA Tour, The Mistress & Her Big Ballad

The current national tour of EVITA kicked off earlier this Fall to rave reviews and rapt audiences and one of the featured players of the hit company discusses her memorably one-song role in the show in a new interview - Krystina Alabado as The Mistress.
