Single tickets for 30 of Omaha Performing Arts' 2013/2014 performances will go on sale Friday, August 9, 2013. The performances, scheduled for October 2013 through and May 2014, include: The swingin' big band group Big Bad Voodoo Daddy; the hilarious Broadway musical ELF; the inspirational African Gospel group Soweto Gospel Choir; and violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman. The on-sale date for single tickets to WICKED will be announced at a later date.

Coming up this week, 54 BELOW, the performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz and beyond. 54 Below also launched its series of late night events. A May Sky Picture has announced the workshop production of Schuyler Iona Press' WHAT I'M FAILING TO LEARN, choreography by Joel Hanna, music arranged by Jeb Patton, co-directed by Darren Press, written and directed by C. Fraser Press. WHAT I'M FAILING TO LEARN will play a limited engagement at Off-Broadway's 13th Street Rep (50 West 13th Street, NYC). Performances begin tonight, May 15 and continue through Saturday, June 15. Opening Night is Wednesday, May 29 (7 p.m.).

Award-winning Canadian jazz pianist, vocalist and songwriter Laila Biali, who has toured with Suzanne Vega, Chris Botti and Paula Cole, recorded with and supported Sting, and played all over the world at Tokyo's Cotton Club, Peru's El Festival Internacional de Lima, and Carnegie Hall in New York City, will be taking over SubCulture for a residency in May!

In collaboration with BNY Mellon, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust will commemorate National Jazz Appreciation Month with Grammy Award winners, renowned musicians and iconic jazz masters this April 2013. 'A Gershwinter Night', a once-in-a-lifetime concert, featuring the Sean Jones International All-Star Quintet with special guest Eli Degibri, the famed Israeli saxophonist and Director of the Red Sea Jazz Festival, will take place at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture on December 29 at 8 p.m. and December 30 at 2 p.m.

Blood Brothers rose from the ashes to secure its place in the West End history books, courtesy of the Phoenix theatre. But having enjoyed 24 years as one of the West End's best loved and longest running musicals, the 'story of the Johnstone Twins' is set to say farewell.

Bill Kenwright's production of Blood Brothers seems to be constantly touring the UK. Some may say a little too often but with Birmingham Hippodrome packed to the rafters last night and the reaction that the show received, there is still obviously a high demand for the production.
