The Lakeside Players' BEMUSED Opens Tonight

The screwball comedy Bemused which had its world premiere last year at Theatre North West in British Columbia will make audiences roar with laughter again in Ottawa in a new production presented by The Lakeside Players. The show is written by Peter Fenton (The Giant's Garden) and Scott White (Top Gun! The Musical).

CAFE CABARET to be Held at Cafe Ballou, 5/15

Cafe Cabaret invites guests to an electric evening filled with eclectic performers on May 15 at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at Cafe Ballou, 939 N Western Avenue, Chicago. Cafe Cabaret is led by Roberta Miles and features a rotating cast of uncommon characters guaranteed to make your jaw drop in shock and cheeks hurt from laughter. Donations are encouraged.

Toronto Fringe Festival to Present New Musical A SIMPLE TWIST OF FAITH, 7/2 - 7/13

This summer, the Kiever Shul, a synagogue in the heart of Kensington Market, will be home to one of the Toronto Fringe Festival's most compelling new shows. A Simple Twist of Faith is a heartfelt musical that tells the story of a Jewish American soldier during World War One whose experience in a German synagogue changes the course of his life.

A SIMPLE TWIST OF FAITH Coming to Toronto Fringe, 7/2-13

This summer, the Kiever Shul, a synagogue in the heart of Kensington Market, will be home to one of the Toronto Fringe Festival's most compelling new shows. A Simple Twist of Faith is a heartfelt musical that tells the story of a Jewish American soldier during World War One whose experience in a German synagogue changes the course of his life. Audiences are treated to a mobile experience through the historic Kiever Shul in this innovative piece of Site-Specific theatre. The musical features some of Toronto's finest musicians and shares an unforgettable story not to be missed. Just in time for the beginning of the hundredth a!nniversary of The Great War, this is a must-see Fringe show that will uplift and inspire.

Theatre North West Presents World Premiere of Fenton & White's BEMUSED, Now thru May 14

Theatre North West will be closing their 19th main stage season with the world premiere of the screwball comedy Bemused written by Peter Fenton (The Giant's Garden) & Scott White (Top Gun! The Musical). The first production is directed by Betty Mitchell award winner Kevin McKendrick (Urinetown, Boy Gets Girl). The cast includes Jenni Burke (Buddy … The Buddy Holly Story, Bat Boy), Erica Clow (Seussical), Steven Greenfield (Spitfire Grill, Titanic, West Side Story), Tim Koetting (Anne of Green Gables), Ksenia Thurgood (Wizard of Oz, CATS), Deb Williams (Mom's The Word) & Barrie Wood, (Oliver!). Scenic design is by Ted Price, costume design by Marian Truscott, sound design by Haylee Tucker, lighting design by Dave Smith and stage management is by Sarah Wallin.

Celebrate Art & Cycling with Two Exhibits (+ Animated Architecture Pop-up) in City Hall

The City's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy introduces two exhibitions in celebration of Philadelphia's growing bicycle culture. Artist-designed Bike Racks and Bike p'ARTs combine two great local passions: cycling and art. The exhibits are located on the 1st and 2nd floors of City Hall, NE corner in the Art Gallery at City Hall and display cases near the Mayor's Offices. An artist reception is scheduled for April 9, 5-7 pm.

Stage 773 to Present WELCOME TO PLEASURETOWN, Begin. 10/4

Pulling from Chicago's most celebrated live lit producers and storytellers, Welcome to PleasureTown will premier for a limited engagement at Stage 773's cabaret space in October. The show, described by its creators as "Prairie Home Companion meets Caligula," blends storytelling, theatre and folk music to create a unique night of poignant comedy.

IT'S ALWAYS YOU written by Dan Redican (PUPPETS WHO KILL) with music by Scott White (TOP GUN! THE MUSICAL) has been turning away audiences from sold out performances since it opened at The Toronto Fringe on July 3. The piece was so popular that all of the advance tickets were snatched up early in the run. 40 additional tickets were available for those willing to line up at the door, and audiences arrived hours in advance of the box office opening to get a peek at this hit show.
