Joe Masteroff Visits Engeman Theatre's CABARET

The John W. Engeman Theater's production of Cabaret was seen by one of its most astute viewers this weekend: Joe Masteroff, who wrote the book for the classic musical. Mr. Masteroff attended the Saturday evening performance of Cabaret and gave the production his stamp of approval. 'The entire evening was pretty wonderful,' he said, describing the Engeman Theater as 'a perfect theater for Cabaret.' The hot-selling production is riding on a wave of ecstatic reviews, with the New York Times praising it for being 'as raw, raunchy and unsanitized as the dark-hued musical demands... a polished black diamond of a show.'

Engeman Theater is proud to announce the cast and creative team for their upcoming production of Cabaret, which begins previews on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 8:00pm and officially opens on February 5, 2011 at 8:00pm. Cabaret will run until March 27, 2011. This production is based on the 1998 Broadway revival choreographed and co-directed by Rob Marshall and directed by Sam Mendes.

Wendy Kesselman's 'The Black Monk', which ran Off-Broadway from November 30th, 2008 through January 3rd, 2009, featuring Austin Pendleton, Elon Rutberg, Julie Craig, and Scott Robertson - under the direction of Kevin Newbury and musical direction of Chris Berg (with cellist Arthur Cook), will be making an original cast recording on Monday, May 25th, 2009. The album will be produced/engineered by Grammy Award winner John Kilgore. It will be released online in the fall exclusively on iTunes, and a record deal is pending.
