Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC), one of the world's premiere contemporary dance companies, will present the final series in its 2009-2010 season, which will include a World Premiere by eminent choreographer Aszure Barton; the Theatrical Premiere of resident choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo's Deep Down Dos, which received its symphonic debut in April with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; and a revival of Bardo by Japanese choreographer Toru Shimazaki
Today, The New Group announced it's upcoming 2010-2011 season. The works include Blood From a Stone by Tommy Nohilly, a revival of Marie and Bruce by Wallace Shawn, and the New York premiere of One-Arm.

As previously reported, Shrek vet Christopher Sieber will lead the cast of The Kid for The New Group. Based on the book by Dan Savage entitled The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant, the new musical The Kid features music by Andy Monroe, book by Michael Zam and lyrics by Jack Lechner. Today it has been announced that the first preview has moved from April 10 to Friday, April 16. Official Opening is now Monday, May 10 at 7:00 (moved from May 6, announced previously). Final performance is May 29.

On Monday, January 25, a starry ensemble including Matthew Broderick, Jill Clayburgh, Josh Hamilton, Ethan Hawke, Marin Ireland, Natasha Lyonne, Marsha Mason, Laurie Metcalf, John Pankow, Sam Shepard, Reshma Shetty, Maggie Siff, Frank Whaley, Karen Young, Keith Carradine, Ann Harada, and Anika Larsen honored Robyn Goodman with the Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater at The New Group's 2010 Gala Benefit. The Gala took place at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in an dinner and auction event hosted by Wallace Shawn and Jeff Whitty.

The New Group is presenting the world premiere of The Starry Messenger as the first production in its 2009-2010 season. This production is playing a limited Off-Broadway engagement, that began previews on October 26 with an official opening night on November 23. The production was initially slated to close on December 12.
The New York Post's Cindy Adams is reporting that Roseanne Barr might be headed to Broadway. 'That is, I could be coming to Broadway. I sure want to' told the star to the gossip columnist. 'That's even if there's something to know... actually it could even be off-Broadway. Right now it was just a reading, but I'm excited about the possibility. Look ... who knows?'
