The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in television, new media, news, radio, and promotional writing during 2014.

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today its Documentary Motion Pictures, Television Series/Specials, and Digital Series nominees that will advance in the voting process for the 26th Annual Producers Guild Awards.

The Geffen Playhouse production of The Gospel According to Thomas Jefferson, Charles Dickens and Count Leo Tolstoy: Discord, is extending for a third time, now through December 21, 2014. The production, in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse, is written by Scott Carter, executive producer and writer for Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect and Real Time.

The Geffen Playhouse presents Independent Shakespeare Co.'s production of A Christmas Carol with Charles Dickens, featuring David Melville as Charles Dickens, adapted by David Melville and Melissa Chalsma and directed by Melissa Chalsma. A Christmas Carol will have a single performance on Monday, December 1 at 7:00pm in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse.

Allowing Maher to offer his unique perspective on contemporary issues, the show includes an opening monologue, roundtable discussions with panelists, and interviews with guests. Actor and election correspondent Kal Penn is the top-of-show interview guest. Actress and documentary film producer Eva Longoria is the mid-show interview guest. The roundtable guests are Gen. Wesley Clark, foreign policy analyst Rula Jebreal and Maine Sen. Angus King.
