Unlike many theatre companies, Dragon's theatre season runs January through December. The Main Stage Series is Dragon's traditional programming series - the underrated, overlooked, and rarely performed gems that make Dragon the unique little theatre company that it is. Dragon's 2nd Stages series launched in 2014. It's intended to give other artists the opportunity to fully produce their passion projects with funding and mentorship from the Dragon's staff. This series works to develop new local theatre makers with the support of an established theatre company. For 2019 we've decided to offer three Main Stage Series productions and three 2nd Stages Series productions. All six shows are performed on the stage of the Dragon Theatre in downtown Redwood City. The 2019 season is the final season selected by outgoing founder and Executive Artistic Director Meredith Hagedorn.

SHOWTIME has renewed its Golden Globe® Award winning drama series THE AFFAIRfor a fifth and final season. Season four of the series is currently airing on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with the finale airing onAugust 19. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks Inc.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is pleased to announce the complete casting and directors for the first four shows of its 2018/19 season: Downstate by Pulitzer Prize-winning ensemble member Bruce Norris; Familiar by Danai Gurira; La Ruta by Isaac Gomez; and A Doll's House, Part 2 by Lucas Hnath. Directors Danya Taymor (Familiar) and Robin Witt (A Doll's House, Part 2) are added to the 2018/19 director lineup. THE AFFAIR explores the emotional and psychological effects of an affair that destroyed two marriages, and the crime that brings these individuals back together. Season four finds Noah (West), Helen (Tierney), Alison (Wilson) and Cole (Jackson) in their own orbits, alienated from each other, spinning further and further away from where they all began. Every character is involved in a new relationship, forcing them each to decide if they're ready and willing to leave the past behind for good – with a season about new beginnings, tragic ends and the ever-elusive possibility of forgiveness. Sanaa Lathan joins season four as Janelle, the tough-as-nails principal of the charter school where Noah teaches. Ramon Rodriguez guest stars as Ben, a Marine veteran now employed by the VHA and Alison's new love interest. Additional season four guest stars include Russell Hornsby (Grimm), Christopher Meyer (The Fosters), Amy Irving (Yentl) and Phoebe Tonkin (The Vampire Diaries). Writers Guild Award-winning playwright and writer/producer Sarah Treem (House of Cards, In Treatment) and Hagai Levi (In Treatment) created the series. Treem, also the showrunner, and Levi serve as executive producers. Jessica Rhoades is an executive producer on season four. Blackfriars Theatre presents the Regional Premiere of Sarah Treem's powerful new drama: When We Were Young & Unafraid. The year is 1972, before Roe v. Wade and the Violence Against Women Act. Agnes has turned her quiet bed and breakfast into one of the few spots where victims of domestic violence can seek refuge. This work debuted in 2014 with Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick, Revolutionary Road) playing this story's protagonist, Mary Ann.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today a one-week extension for the world premiere of KINGS, written by Sarah Burgess and directed by Thomas Kail. Part of The Public's Astor Anniversary Season at their landmark downtown home on Lafayette Street, celebrating 50 years of new work at 425 Lafayette Street and the 50th Anniversary of HAIR, KINGS officially opens on Tuesday, February 20 and will now run an additional week through Sunday, April 1.

Northern Stage announced today that WP Theater (formerly Women's Project Theater) is among the five winners of an unprecedented new grant to support women artistic directors in professional theaters across the United States. The BOLD Theater Women's Leadership Circle, led by Carol Dunne, Producing Artistic Director of Northern Stage, will provide $1.25 million of support for Northern Stage and four other theaters run by female artistic directors during the 2018-2019 season. Each theater will receive a $250,000 grant. 

The NoHo - based company's freshman season continues with Noah Haidle's 2005 hit nd On March 2, the SRS Production Wing will roll out the next show in its premiere season with " Mr. Marmalade, " by Noah Haidle.

Following an extensive nationwide search,American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Board of Trustees and Executive Director Peter Pastreich today named Tony, OBIE, and Drama Desk Award winner Pam MacKinnon the new artistic director of San Francisco's premier nonprofit theater organization. MacKinnon succeeds Carey Perloff who will depart from American Conservatory Theater at the end of the 2017-18 season after 25 years at the helm. MacKinnon will begin planning the 2018-19 season alongside Perloff effective immediately. In addition, she will begin partnering with the leaders of A.C.T.'s world-class actor training programs and ever-expanding community programs, ensuring A.C.T. continues its role as the Bay Area's leading theater arts educational organization.

KINGS will run through Sunday, March 25 with an official press opening on Tuesday, February 20. Continuing The Public's mission to make great theater accessible to all, The Public's First Performance Free for All continues this fall; free tickets to the first preview on Tuesday, January 30 will be available beginning January 23, via TodayTix mobile lottery.

In the current climate of male dominated businesses and organizations, a power struggle is occurring in the arena of gender politics where women often come in second. But in Sarah Treem's play, The How and the Why, she puts the feminine first with two female evolutionary biologists in a heavily male dominated field. It is a play about science, feminism and generational rivalry. NJT will stage the production from January 24 February 11 in the Wool Studio Theatre.
