Axis Company (1 Sheridan Square, just off 7th Avenue) invites you to the 10th installment of its annual downtown cult favorite Hospital serial. This episodic multimedia play examines the interior life of a man in a terminal coma. Entering this state in a different way every year, the audience travels with him as he roams the vast, dark interiors of his own brain. Although Hospital is a serial play, each evening can be viewed separately as a self-contained, short play. The serial runs June 11 - July 25 at Axis Theater.

Gang?s I am not a racist, but . . .) as Debbie, Rich Hutchman (Buzzworks Theatre Company?s Invasion of the Minnesota Normals) as Rallis and Lisa Rothschiller (Chicago?s Defiant Theatre Company?s Action Movie: The Play) as Callie. Two-time Tony award-nominee Erin Quigley (costume designs for The Grapes of Wrath and The Songs of Jacob Zulu) is set to direct. Preview performances begin May 14, 2009.

This look at a life on the fringes of New York's Lower East Side comes on the heels of what could be Oliver's breakthrough role in the upcoming film from Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess, Gentlemen Broncos, opposite Sam Rockwell as well as a national ad campaign for mobile phones in Ireland that has become a cult phenomenon. This limited run Off-Broadway engagement is directed by Randy Sharp at Axis Theater where it premiered to critical acclaim in November 2008.
In EAST 10TH STREET: SELF PORTRAIT WITH EMPTY HOUSE, downtown theatre icon Edgar Oliver takes the audience on a macabre voyage through the strange rooms of the apartment house where he has lived since his first years in New York. Inhabiting the dark, mysterious halls of this East Village tenement building are a dwarf Cabalist, a possible Nazi, the landlord's former wet nurse who apparently lives in a nest of rags, and many others. This incredible cast of real life characters illuminates a sad, funny and uniquely New York story.
