Milwaukee Rep willpresent an Artists Lounge Live Production of Country Sunshine: The Legendary Ladies of Nashville With Katie Deal in the Stackner Cabaret September 8 – October 29, 2023.
These legendary acts eventually made way for performers such as Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, and Faith Hill and present-day hitmakers Maren Morris, Yola, and Brandi Carlile. The exhibit celebrates a dynamic group of female songwriters and performers who come from diverse backgrounds and draw from a wide array of musical influences.

Barter has a rich tradition of producing new plays, many of which have originated in this festival, known as the AFPP. This year, the festival includes readings of seven brand new Appalachian plays July 7 - 14, 2014 as well as a "mini-production" of a world-premiere musical, "Winter Wheat," July 29- August 10.
The songs and story of the original Carter family, told against the backdrop of their Virginia roots and the love story that made country music famous. A.P., Maybelle and Sara Carter are brought to life in this telling look at their lives and music - music that defined their time and their way of life: 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken', 'Wildwood Flower', 'My Clinch Mountain Home', 'Keep On The Sunny Side', and so many more.
It is highly unlikely that while Laura Ingalls Wilder was writing about the 'LITTLE HOUSE IN THE BIG WOODS' (Pepin, Wisconsin) or 'LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE' (Walnut Grove, Minnesota), that she ever thought the characters of her story would make it as far as California, let alone gather together South of the boarder on the high seas of the Pacific Ocean.
