Creative Loafing Announces Lineup for GASP! 2018

GASP!, Creative Loafing's multi-disciplinary performing arts fest at the Tampa Museum of Art, returns on Friday, March 16th, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with its most eclectic lineup yet. Fest-goers will find an ever-changing mix of dance, theater, music, body art, fashion and spoken word inside and outside the museum - including the world premiere of a dance-theater collaboration to be performed on a grassy slope above the Tampa Riverwalk. Tickets available now at GaspTampa.com.

L.O.V.E.R. A Poignant, Funny Coming Of Age Journey Opens 4/13

Accomplished actress Lois Robbins takes us on a poignant and comic journey as one woman explores her sexual history, in what ultimately becomes her coming of age story, L.O.V.E.R. Directed by Sonia Sebastian, L.O.V.E.R. opens on April 13, running through May 12 at the Zephyr Theatre on Melrose Avenue.

Anna Camp and Thomas Sadoski to Star in BELLEVILLE at Pasadena Playhouse

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, announces a new Hitchcock-style drama Belleville by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award winner Amy Herzog.  Performances run from Wednesday, April 18 to Sunday, May 13; the press opening is April 22. 

Broadway Favorite Jennifer Cody To Don Platform Shoes And Spandex In Dream Theatre's MAMMA MIA!

Dream Theatre Productions, the resident professional theater company of The Union County Performing Arts Center is happy to announce Jennifer Cody (Broadway: Urinetown, Shrek, Grease, Taboo & Seussical) will be playing the role of Rosie in their upcoming production of the international smash hit! Cody, perhaps best known to younger audiences as the voice of Charlotte La Bouff in Disney's The Princess and the Frog will be joined by fellow Dynamo's Gabrielle Mirabella (Tours: Elf: The Musical & Mamma Mia!) as Donna Sheridan and Kim Shriver (Broadway: A Chorus Line, Tours: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels & Joseph and the...Dreamcoat) as Tanya.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Presents Off-Broadway Smash SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS

Philadelphia Theatre Company presents the Ars Nova production of the Obie Award winning play Small Mouth Sounds, written by Bess Wohl and directed by Tony nominee Rachel Chavkin (Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812). In the overwhelming quiet of the woods, six wildy dissimilar runaways from city life embark on a week-long silent retreat. Guided by an unseen guru and pledging a vow of silence, these strangers confront internal demons both profound and absurd. Both contemplative and funny, Small Mouth Sounds is a cleverly conceived and sharp observation of the pursuit of wellness and the achingly human need to connect. Small Mouth Sounds will preview on March 13 and opens on March 14, 2018. The show will run for 24 performances through April 1, 2018 at Philadelphia Theatre Company at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (480 S. Broad Street). Valley Performing Arts Council Presents the Ballet ROMEO AND JULIET

“Romeo and Juliet,” Shakespeare's classic story of young star-crossed lovers, will be presented as a ballet by the Valley Performing Arts Council (VPAC) Saturday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the William Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno. The performance will feature professional dancers from the renowned State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara alongside local dancers from Fresno Ballet Theatre.

Fuego), the second single from his forthcoming Spanish language studio album, due out later this year via his own IDGAFOS record label. Francis today also shared an accompanying music video for the track. Directed by Erik Rojas, the vibrant clip sees Francis and Fuego take over a rooftop in downtown Los Angeles.

Collegiate Theatrics: USC's Isadora Lee Cintrón Moya

Theater's next generation of actors will come from all over the globe, to be certain, but one might find an impressive concentration of artists on the campus of the University of Southern California, where the 2018 list of candidates for the Master of Fine Arts in acting rivals any group to be found anywhere. Take Isadora Lee Cintron Moya, for example. A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, she earned her bachelor's degree in theater from the University of Puerto Rico, where she was a member of the university's acclaimed Traveling Theatre Group.

Teatro Nuovo Announces Its Inaugural BEL CANTO FESTIVAL at Purchase College This Summer

Teatro Nuovo, the new organization led by Will Crutchfield, is proud to announce its inaugural Bel Canto Festival at Purchase College, The Dawn of Romantic Opera, July 28-August 5 2018, in collaboration with The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. The Festival will present semi-staged productions of Rossini's Tancredi, Mayr's Medea in Corinto, two operas premiered in 1813; one by a mature master and the other by a budding genius, both pointing the way for opera's Romantic century. The Festival will also include a second version of the Rossini score, Tancredi rifatto, incorporating extensive music that the composer wrote for later revivals. Teatro Nuovo will also introduce a radical new adventure with early 19th-century performing style and period orchestral instruments.

Chilean Quartet MAFF Release HAWAII Single off Upcoming MELANIÑA EP

Chilean shoegaze quartet Maff will be releasing 'Hawaii', a new powerhouse single off their coming 'Melaniña' EP, slated for release in April. This is Maff's first sonic offering since blazing a remarkable trail through shoegaze, alternative rock, and noise pop territory surrounding their debut album 'Maff', released in 2015. 

Yale Rep Presents Suzan-Lori Parks's FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS, Parts 1, 2 & 3

Yale Repertory Theatre (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director) presents Father Comes Home From the Wars, Parts 1, 2 & 3 by Suzan-Lori Parks, directed by Liz Diamond, March 16-April 7, at the University Theatre (222 York Street). Opening Night is Thursday, March 22. Father Comes Home From the Wars, Parts 1, 2 & 3 is a co-production with San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater, where it will play April 25-May 20.

Pollard Mounts Excellent Production of A FEW GOOD MEN

Before writer/director Aaron Sorkin became best known for tv shows like The West Wing and Newsroom and movies such as The Social Network and Steve Jobs, he penned a stage play that may be more famous as a movie. Sorkin worked on the movie version of his script for A Few Good Men, a play which has more than stood the test of time as a highly entertaining piece of theater that also raises important themes surrounding power, who wields it, and how they use it. It's also getting a first-rate production right now at the Pollard Theatre in Guthrie.
