When he gets hired as Santa Claus at Macy's, the jolly old gentleman goes about setting things right - even as events conspire against him. Based on the delightful movie classic that starred Edmund Gwenn as Kringle and a young Natalie Wood, this musical version includes memorable songs such as 'Jolly Old St. Nicholas,' 'The Holly and the Ivy' and more. As we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season, we all need a little break to remember that miracles do happen. The Philadelphia Orchestra is gearing up for the holidays, and this season's line-up promises plenty of cheer for people of all ages-from classical music aficionados to traditional holiday music lovers alike. The most wonderful time of the year opens with three Glorious Sound of Christmas concerts, tonight, December 20-22; continues with Handel's Messiah, December 23; and concludes with the time-honored tradition of the Orchestra's annual New Year's Eve Concert on December 31, this year conducted by new Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin. All concerts take place in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center.
