The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Manfred Honeck are deeply committed to music's ability to promote and spread a spiritual and universal message, and to that end invite the public to two free "Music for the Spirit" concerts on Thursday, November 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair and on Saturday, November 22 at 8 p.m. at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School in Cranberry.

Single tickets will go on sale October 1 for individual concerts of the Oakland East Bay Symphony's 2014-2015 season. The six-concert, 26th season—Music Director and Conductor Michael Morgan's 25th with the Orchestra-- will feature the world premiere of a new work for violin and orchestra by Grammy Award-winning composer/violinist Mads Tolling, the West Coast premiere of Chris Brubeck and Guillaume Saint-James' Brothers in Arts for jazz quintet and orchestra, a semi-staged performance ofLeonard Bernstein's Candide, pianists Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner and Richard Glazier, Notes from Mexico, a holiday tribute to Pete Seeger and more. A pre-concert talk will begin one hour before each performance, and the 2014-2015 season at the Paramount Theatre runs November 7, 2014 through May 15, 2015. Celebrating its Twenty-Ninth Year, Summer Opera Lyric Theatre announces a season featuring fully-staged productions of Mozart's THE MAGIC FLUTE, Puccini's MADAME BUTTERFLY and Samuel Barber's great 20th century masterpiece, VANESSA. Since 1986, Founder and General Director Guillermo Silva Marin has led aspiring young artists through an intensive 8 week course of study concentrating on character development in opera through text and music. These weeks culminate in a series of performances showcasing the young artists at the Robert Gill Theatre, University of Toronto. A haven for opera lovers in late summer, SOLT is the only operatic training course of its kind in the Greater Toronto Area, and alumni include Etienne Dupuis, Frederique Vezina, David Pomeroy, Keith Klassen, Marc Boucher, Krisztina Szabo, Joseph Kaiser, Norah Sourouzian and Joshua Hopkins.
