Mountain View High School Chorale and Orchestras to Present Concert, 2/24

MUSIC CELEBRATIONS INTERNATIONAL is pleased to announce the National Festival of the States featuring MOUNTAIN VIEW HIGH SCHOOL CHORALE AND ORCHESTRAS, Mason Schreiber, Choir Conductor and Dr. Walter Temme, Orchestra Conductor. These nationally recognized ensembles will be featured in their own debut concert performing works by Samuel Barber, Ernest Bloch, P. I. Tchaikovsky, Antonio Vivaldi, and more on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 7:00pm at Carnegie Hall (881 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019). The Chorale is comprised of 81 singers, approximately 10 voices on each part. The ensemble is highly select and includes many well rounded students, including artists, athletes, student council officers, scholars, actors, and instrumental musicians. The Chorale has recently toured Northern Arizona and Northern California, recording at such sites as Trinity Episcopal Church, Pasadena United Methodist Church and Skywalker Studios on George Lucas' estate. They also were one of three choirs in the world invited to sing at the 200th anniversary of the death of composer Franz Joseph Haydn in Vienna Austria in 2009.

The Mountain View Chamber Orchestras have built a reputation of performance excellence throughout Arizona and the Southwest since the school opened in 1976. Over the last 19 years, the program has grown from two to five orchestras giving its 200 plus strings students a comprehensive orchestral experience. The orchestra program at Mountain View features two training orchestras and three festival orchestras. Of these, the Symphony regularly performs works from the standard symphonic literature and the Chamber Orchestra is highly acclaimed internationally for its performances at major performances festivals. The orchestras have performed twice (2001, 2010) at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, honor performances (2003, 2005,2009, 2010, 2014) at the Arizona Music Educators Association In-Service Conference, as well as international orchestra festivals in Russia (2006) and Austria (2009).
