Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.

Heslin, presents the US premiere of "Stop the Tempo" by Romanian playwright Gianina Carbinariu, in a theatrically explosive site-specific staging at Arlene's Grocery, 95 Stanton Street, beginning Sunday May 26 at 4pm. Directed by Matt Torney, whose New York credits include shows at HERE, and at 59E59, "Stop the Tempo" plays a limited 4-week engagement through Tuesday June 18. The opening is set for Sunday June 2 at 7pm.

World-renowned artist, caricaturist, illustrator and cultural critic Sam Norkin died in his sleep early yesterday morning. He chose to donate his body to New York's Presbyterian Hospital.

Isa Goldberg, theater critic and journalist, has been elected the new President of the Drama Desk by its membership voting electronically in approval of the projected Officers and Board of Directors slate for 2010-2011. She assumed the Presidency at this evening's annual membership meeting, held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Travel Inn, 515 West 42nd Street. Ms. Goldberg was introduced as the incoming President by outgoing President William Wolf, who was elected to remain on the Board as a Member-at-Large.
