Craig Smith, Managing Partner of the new Alhambra Theatre & Dining announced this morning that Joyce DeWitt will star in Sam Bobrick's romantic comedy, Remember Me. Miss DeWitt is most widely known to audiences for her starring role as 'Janet Wood' in the ABC Television hit series "Three's Company," but she is no stranger to live theater, working both as actress and director in a stage career which spans over forty years. She recently starred in A Scattered, Smothered and Covered Christmas Musical and the Canadian productions of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Dinner With Friends and Alfred Uhry's Tony Award-winning play The Last Night of Ballyhoo.
When Craig Smith talks of the many reasons he bought the Alhambra in August of 2009, he often gets teary-eyed telling the story of his daughter, Macy's, first live theater experience almost 10 years ago - the Wizard of Oz at the Alhambra. So this summer has a special feel to it for Smith as the Alhambra opens its 2012 summer family show on June 6 with the Wizard of Oz.

Fiddler on the Roof, kicks off Barrington Stage Company's 2012 Mainstage Season for a five week run from June 13 through July 14. This show is told through the letters of star-struck fan Louise Seger, portrayed by Emmy Award winning actress, Sally Struthers. This popular musical, which has enjoyed great success both off-Broadway and across the nation, is based on the true story of Cline's friendship with Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961 and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Featuring the unforgettable hits of the Country Music mega-star, this funny and touching tribute celebrates the career and life of the singer who died tragically in a plane crash in 1963. "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams" and "Walking After Midnight" are just a few of the 27 featured songs.
The 28th Annual STAGE Benefit was held last weekend at the Saban Theatre Beverly Hills to benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles. Entitled 'Original Cast 3,' it featured performers doing songs from shows with which they are associated. The event raised more than $200,000 for APLA's work with clients living with HIV and AIDS in Los Angeles County.
