Marian Anderson Award Announces Gala Program, Honors Bill Cosby 4/6 At Kimmel Center

The Marian Anderson Award has announced the guest artists for the upcoming Award Gala on April 6, 2010, at the Kimmel Center, honoring comedian and educator Bill Cosby. In announcing the program, Award Chair Pamela A. Crawley noted that 'This year is our 11th Award, and we will be honoring an individual who, like Marian Anderson, was shaped by Philadelphia and then helped shape our culture.

Marian Anderson Award to Honor Bill Cosby 4/6/2010

Mayor Michael Nutter announced today that Bill Cosby, Ed.D.-comedian and educator-will be the next recipient of the Marian Anderson Award. Mr. Cosby will accept the Award at a Gala Concert produced in partnership with The Philadelphia Orchestra, which will take place on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

Canadian Stage TD Dream Announces Casting For ROMEO AND JULIET, Opens 6/25

The Canadian Stage TD Dream in High Park presents Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare's timeless tale of ill-fated lovers and feuding families. Jeff Irving stars as Romeo (Ross Petty's Robin Hood, Mirvish Productions' Sound of Music and Canadian Stage/Citadel Theatre's The December Man /L'homme de décembre) and Christine Horne stars as Juliet (The Stone Angel with Ellen Burstyn and KICK Theatre's Miss Julie: Sheh'mah).

Annual Clarence Darrow Event Held 3/13

A group led by attorneys, labor leaders and social justice advocates that has gathered annually for more than 50 years to honor the memory of attorney Clarence Darrow will meet at the Darrow Bridge in Jackson Park Saturday, March 13 at 10 a.m. for its traditional wreath-tossing into the Jackson Park Lagoon.

This quirky show attempts to show that everyday life may not be as mundane as it may seem on the surface-especially when one's life is shaped so significantly by it. This short 80-minute musical features a sensational quartet of amazing singers: Deborah S. Craig, David Burnham, Nancy Anderson, and talented newcomer Nick Gabriel. Ends January 24.

Stray Cat Theatre announces AUDITIONS for THE PLAY ABOUT THE NAKED GUY by David Bell. The show will be directed by Damon Dering. Auditions are Monday 12.14.09 from 6-10pm and Tuesday 12.15.09 6-8pm at the Tempe Performing Arts Center (the old one - where we perform - 132 E. 6th Street at Forest Avenue, in Tempe's Mill Avenue District near Arizona State University.)
