In a golden anniversary season celebrating the theatre's past, present and future, there is little dust on this perennial favorite

Performances of Marc Spitz's REVENGE AND GUILT begin September 19 prior to an official press opening of September 21 at the Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street, btw 2nd and 3rd Avenues) in Manhattan.

Fountain Hills Youth Theater is proud to announce the closing production of their 10th anniversary season, the musical romp 'Once Upon a Mattress'. If you thought you knew the story of 'The Princess and The Pea,' you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that Lady Larken's love for Sir Harry provided a rather compelling reason that she reach the bridal altar post haste? Or that, in fact, it wasn't the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.

Edna Ferber has been proven to be plumb inspiration for grandiose and sweeping musicals. 1927's SHOW BOAT was based on her 1926 novel Showboat. Recently, her novel Giant was musicalized by Michael John LaChiusa (SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE, FIRST LADY SUITE, THE WILD PARTY). The show features a book by Sybille Pearson, Music and Lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, and luxuriant orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin with additional orchestrations by Larry Hochman. GIANT had its New York City premiere in a production that was co-produced by The Public Theater and Dallas Theater Center last fall. The acclaimed musical's rousing and extravagantly epic score has been resplendently captured by Ghostlight Records on their 2-disc GIANT (Original Cast Recording) album.

Slant Theatre Project, the team that presented the critically acclaimed play THE STEADFAST earlier this season, will present the sixth episode in their popular story-telling series ON THIS ISLAND on Tuesday, April 9 at 8:00pm at Ars Nova (511 West 54th Street) in Manhattan. They share the dreams and desires, hopes and disappointments, victories and defeats that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.

In celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of Broadway's landmark musical event The Lion King, cast members Alton Fitzgerald White, Chondra La-Tease Profit and Lindiwe Dlamini 'flipped the switch' and lit the world-famous Empire State Building's tower lights with the signature color of the production.
