THE MONTH OF MODERNS 2021 to be Presented by The Crossing and the Annenberg Center

The Crossing has announced the return of its annual summer festival of new music, The Month of Moderns 2021, co-presented with the Annenberg Center from June 3-19, 2021. Each of the three outdoor programs will be performed with singers and audience spatially distanced using The Crossing’s Echoes Amplification Kits.

The Crossing Releases New Film THE FOREST And Announces Sixth Consecutive GRAMMY Nomination

The Crossing announces the release of a new film, The Forest, shot live at the ensemble's October 2020 socially distant, sold-out performances of the same name. In a time when choirs cannot sing and perform together in conventional ways, The Forest featured the 24 singers of The Crossing performing along a trail at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve in New Hope, Pennsylvania, situated in the sounds and sights of the woods, while audience members walked, through the soundscape and landscape. The film was created by the Philadelphia-based Four/Ten Media and Crossing in-house sound designer Paul Vazquez, using binaural (360º) audio capture and a single, continuous take in which the camera lens becomes the eye of the audience, moving leisurely through the work.

Casting Society of America (CSA) today announced the television and theatre nominees for the 35th Artios Awards, which honor the contribution of Casting Directors to film, television and theatre. The winners will be revealed on Thursday, January 30, 2020 in ceremonies in Los Angeles, New York City and London. Comedian, actor and writer Ron Funches will serve as host for the Los Angeles event.

Merola Concludes Season With Dazzling Grand Finale

Out Front Theatre Company is ringing in the season with its first-ever holiday production, the world premiere of The Ethel Merman Disco Spectacular! Decking the halls with holiday tunes December 6-22, the production imagines what the legendary Ethel Merman's 1979 disco Christmas television special might have been. Featuring a dozen blood-pumping disco Christmas songs, arranged by Out Front's Resident Musical Director Nick Silvestri, the show takes place at the legendary Studio 54. Set in 1975 after the Fall of Saigon, this New York Times Critics' Pick is a stranger-than-fiction true love story between two refugees-who find each other on the other side of the world. Qui Nguyen, a playwright and screenwriter for Marvel Studios, deploys hip-hop, fight sequences, and up-to-the-minute pop culture references to tell his own origin story as his parents "meet cute" in the repurposed barracks of a relocation camp in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas.

Broadway Dance Lab (BDL), a non-profit choreography incubator supporting new works of dance-driven theatre, has announced that former New York City Ballet principal dancer, and Tony Award nominee, Robert Fairchild, will join Loni Landon and Ray Mercer as guest choreographers for the company's Spring 2018 Cycle. He is the founder and principal of the World famous 'London Community Gospel Choir'.
