Comedy 'Sweetspot' Swings at Playhouse on the Green, Nov.2-4

Kathryn Marchand of Stratford and John O'Hern of Westport will star in the premiere of a new comedy, Sweetspot: Confessions of a Golfaholic, written by O'Hern and presented by Playhouse on the Green, Bridgeport, Connecticut, Friday and Saturday, November 2 and 3 at 8PM and Sunday, November 4 at 3PM.

Scores of the brightest lights on stage and screen will turn out in red carpet finery for a celebration of classic Hollywood, Hooray for Hollywood honoring the legendary Oscar winner Patricia Neal, Smith Barney's Shirl Penney and The Count and Countess de Lesseps, Stage 6 at Steiner Film Studios, 15 Washington Avenue at the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard. The gala evening is slated for November 1, with all proceeds going to The Auditory Oral School of New York, a non profit organization which specializes in teaching deaf and hard of hearing children to listen, talk, think and socialize.

Emmy Award winner Rue McClanahan, whose acting career has spanned more than four decades, will appear as a benefit for Playhouse on the Green with stories from her memoir, 'My First Five Husbands…and the Ones That Got Away,' on Saturday, October 20 at 8PM and Sunday, October 21 at 3PM at the Playhouse, 177 State St., Bridgeport.

For the week ending January 1, 2006, WICKED, the musical that tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz, had the highest weekly box office gross of any show in Broadway history: $1,610,934 (the record was previously held by The Producers, which grossed $1,600,243 for the week ending January 4, 2004, during Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick's return engagement).

Long rumored, the UK press is now officially reporting that Wicked has booked London's Apollo Victoria Theatre, where it's due to begin performances on September 27, 2006.
