Dan O'Brien and Suzan-Lori Parks Receive 2014 Horton Foote Prize Tonight

The 2014 recipients of the Horton Foote Prize, named in honor of the legendary writer, to award excellence in American Theater, are presented biennially. The 2014 Prize for the 2012-13/2013-14 seasons' Outstanding New American Play is awarded to The Body of an American by Dan O'Brien. The 2014 Prize for Promising New American Play is awarded to Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2, & 3) by Suzan-Lori Parks.

Tony Winner Phylicia Rashad Set for 2014 Gold Coast Int'l Film Festival

United Solo to Kick Off Fifth Season in New York, Featuring 130 Productions, 9/18-11/23

Theatre Row on New York's famous 42nd Street is home to the world's largest solo theatre festival, United Solo. Its fifth season takes place tomorrow, September 18 - November 23, 2014 and features 130 productions from around the world in categories including drama, comedy, stand-up, mime, improv, musical, and many more.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation Announces 2014-15 Committee for Joe A. Callaway Award

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) has announced the 2014-2015 Committee for the Joe A. Callaway Award, the only peer-given award for excellence in direction and choreography. The Committee, which will oversee the award for the theatre season, is Sue Lawless, William Martin, Barry McNabb, Leslie (Hoban) Blake, Linda Burson, Jonathan Cerullo, Edie Cowan, Clinton Turner Davis, John Going, Richard Hamburger, Bruce Heath, Michael Montel, DJ Salisbury, and Amy Saltz. Sue Lawless will serve as Committee Chair.

The world's largest solo theatre festival celebrates its fifth anniversary this upcoming season, with over 130 solo productions set to be presented at Theatre Row on 42nd Street between September 18 - November 23, 2014. In addition to its rich and diverse programming, the Festival recognizes artists of significant achievements in the solo theatre. This year's list of nominees for the United Solo Special Award includes:

Two River Theater Highlights Grants, New Programs, Partnerships and More in 2013-14

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, has concluded its 20th Anniversary Season, highlighted by far-reaching new-play development activities supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust, and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The season was bookended by the Two River directorial debuts of acclaimed actors Joel Grey (Paul Osborn's On Borrowed Time) and Michael Cumpsty (Wendy Wasserstein's Third).

THE LONG SHRIFT, Directed by James Franco, Begins Tonight at Rattlestick

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long previously announced that the World Premiere of The Long Shrift, written by Robert Boswell and directed by James Franco, would begin previews tonight, July 7th, 2014. The official opening night is set for July 13th, 2014 and closing night is August 23rd, 2014.

Edward Norton and Kate Roche Hope Elected to Signature Theatre Board

Signature Theatre (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton, Executive Director Erika Mallin) just announced that Edward Norton has been elected as the Board of Trustees' new Chairman andKate Roche Hope has been elected as the new President. Mr. Norton and Mrs. Hope will serve 3 year terms effective immediately. Actor and director Ruben Santiago-Hudson (The Piano Lesson, August Wilson's How I Learned What I Learned) and Richard Willett, the Vice President and General Manager of East Hampton's Wines by Morrell, will also be joining the Board of Trustees.
