Midtown Direct Rep (MDR), the ensemble-based theater company based in South Orange/Maplewood, NJ, announces A CONVERSATION WITH BILLY PORTER, on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 7:30 PM at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) in a one-night-only benefit appearance hosted by NY1's Budd Mishkin.

54 Below presented a special night with LUBA MASON - the Broadway star of Chicago, Jekyll & Hyde, The Capeman, among many others, last night and Broadwayworld was there. Fresh off the smash success of the Off-Broadway musical Pretty Flilthy - for which she was hailed as 'outstanding' by The New York Times, 'deliciously droll' by The Hollywood Reporter and 'straight up and affecting' by The New York Daily News - she will present an updated version of her concert Mixtura. Luba's trademarked blend of different musical currents, Mixtura is hybrid musical format consisting of various styles that can also be in any language. The 54 Below evening will include the work of diverse songwriters such as Van Morrison ('Moondance'), Cole Porter ('Love For Sale'), Kander & Ebb ('All That Jazz') and Lou Reed ('Pale Blue Eyes'), in addition to original songs from her Brazilian jazz album Krazy Love. Mixtura will also feature a special version of her breakout number 'Beautiful' by Michael Friedman from Pretty Filthy. You can watch the song 'In Performance' from The New York Times here. Previous incarnations of Mixtura were called 'powerful' by The Huffington Post and 'rapturous musical heaven' by Times Square Chronicles. The evening will feature musical director and arranger Felipe Fournier on vibes.

It was all in the family and all for the family at The Friars Club last night. La Famiglia, Mishpucha, La Familia, CeMbR, Rat Pack, Broadway and Cabaret, were assembled by producers Laura Slutsky and Jamie at the Friars for a spectacular Jamie deRoy & friends show last night. You had to be in the family or know someone in the family to get into the sold out event. Probably no family gathering had so much fun, good food, and great performances as this one did.

Wrapping up Centenary Stage Company's annual January Jazz Fest is the legendary Sammy Figueroa and his Latin Jazz Explosion on Saturday, January 25th at 8 p.m. Sammy Figueroa has long been regarded as one of the world's great musicians. Well-known for his versatility and professionalism, he is one of the few percussionists equally comfortable in a multitude of styles, from R & B to rock and pop to bebop, Latin to Brazilian, and New Age.

When Sly and The Family Stone hit the scene back in the late '60s, the world – socially, culturally and politically – was in a state of upheaval. And their music perfectly evangelized the moment. Today, we stand dangerously at the edge of a similar precipice – and that message of celebratory potential and jubilant clarity is sorely needed. With that concept squarely implanted in his mind's eye, visionary conceptualist, producer, arranger, composer and keyboard wizard Jason Miles has created the extraordinary Sly Reimagined on the Zoho Roots label. CAPA today announced the lineup of national acts which will be headlining the 2013 Festival Latino presented by Honda. The two-day, family-friendly, free event will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11, from 11 am-8 pm each day, in Genoa Park downtown. A detailed schedule will be released on a later date, and will include the full lineup of Ohio-based Latino bands and dance companies that will also be featured at the 2013 Festival.
