It was reported this evening that legendary actress, Helen Mirren, will star opposite Mark Strong in a new English-language adaptation of the Greek tragedy, Oedipus.

Sir Patrick Stewart's acclaimed one-man version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL will return for two nights only, December 11 and December 13, at Theater 511 (511 West 54th Street) to benefit City Harvest and Ars Nova.

Jermyn Street Theatre kicks off its 2020 season with three of Samuel Beckett's finest short plays. The Beckett Triple Bill will be directed by Trevor Nunn and feature the stellar cast of Niall Buggy, Lisa Dwan, James Hayes and David Threlfall. These works are as funny as they are poignant, as compelling as they are lyrical and, together, they demonstrate Beckett's remarkable range, inventiveness, and wit.

Three-time Olivier Award winner Alex Jennings (Netflix's The Crown), in Chicago rehearsing for his upcoming role in the Tony Award-winning musical, The Light in the Piazza, at the Lyric Opera House Dec. 14-29, will make a special appearance at the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (164 N. State Street) following the National Theatre Live screening of the engrossing new work, Hansard, in which he co-stars with Olivier and Tony Award-winning actress Lindsay Duncan (Private Lives), Friday evening, December 6, at 7:45pm.  Jennings will be on hand afterwards to answer questions about his acclaimed Broadway, West End, and TV career.

Quintessence Theatre Group, Philadelphia's professional classic repertory theatre, continues its tenth anniversary season of progressive classic theatre with a heartwarming classic tale for all ages. The company will bring audiences into the magical land of Oz for the holidays when it presents L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz. This classic work will run November 27-December 29. David Suchet will be making his eagerly-awaited return to Australian stages in POIROT AND MORE: A RETROSPECTIVE in early 2020. There has been a huge demand for tickets across Australia and subsequently new shows have just been added to the tour schedule. The tour will travel across the country to Perth, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle and Adelaide. The final installment of the Royal Shakespeare Company's season in London sees Artistic Director Gregory Doran's Measure for Measure coming into town. The choice of play is momentous, as it's historically the Bard's only active denunciation of men's unfair treatment of women. Doran sets the piece in a turn-of-the-Century Vienna that's torn between the lasciviousness of its brothels and strict ideals of conservative purity.

Westport Country Playhouse's Family Festivities Series will present a?oePeter Pan,a?? produced by TheaterWorksUSA, on Sunday, December 8, at 1 and 4 p.m.  The production is based on John Caird and Trevor Nunn's 1982 adaptation, originally developed for London's Royal Shakespeare Company, based on the original play by J.M. Barrie.  Performances are approximately one-hour in length, and appropriate for ages three and up.  Tickets are $20 each.

David Pugh and Theatre by the Lake have announced that their highly acclaimed production of Willy Russell's EDUCATING RITA will run at Theatre Royal, Glasgow in 2020 as part of 40th anniversary UK tour.

The UK theatre industry came together yesterday (Monday 11 November) for the 14th annual TheatreCraft, the largest free offstage theatre careers event for 16 to 30-year-olds. Hosted by the Royal Opera House, over 1,300 young people attended a?" making it the biggest ever TheatreCraft a?" with more than 85 industry professionals running nearly 60 workshops, talks and backstage tours.

Polly Findlay will direct Roger Allam and Colin Morgan in Caryl Churchill's play A Number at the Bridge Theatre. Previews begin on 14 February 2020 with the opening night on 19 February and final performance on 14 March 2020. Booking opens today to Bridge Priority members; public booking opens at 10am on 22 November 2019.

Arcola Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company present the London première of Pippa Hill and Sophie Ivatts' adaptation of #WeAreArrested by Can Dündar, a vital story about the cost of reporting the truth in the age of fake news. Ivatts directs Jamie Cameron (Son), Peter Hamilton Dyer (Can) and Indra Ové (Wife). The production opens on 18 November, with previews from 13 November and runs until 7 December.

In an Adelaide Fringe first Lot Fourteen will host 'Electric Dreams', a three-day creative industries conference looking at how technology is changing the arts (Feb 19-21) and five-day virtual reality program and immersive storytelling showcase from (Feb 19-23) as part of the 2020 Adelaide Fringe. 

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) continues its 2019-20 season with Tom Stoppard's Shakespeare in Love, adapted for the stage by Lee Hall and Marc Norman. Vincent Tycer will direct. Performances will be held in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre from November 21st through November 23rd, and December 4th through December 8th, 2019. David Pugh and Theatre by the Lake have announced that their highly acclaimed production of Willy Russell's EDUCATING RITA, which toured the UK earlier this year, will have a 40th anniversary production in 2020, once again touring the UK and starring Stephen Tompkinson as Frank and Jessica Johnson as Rita.  The production is directed by Max Roberts.

The Remains of Logan Dankworth is the third and final instalment of Luke Wright's trilogy of political verse. It looks at trust and privilege in the age of Brexit.

Frantic Assembly today announced the full casting for I Think We Are Alone, a major new play by Sally Abbott (The Coroner, Vera), co-directed by Kathy Burke (Lady Windermere's Fan, The Retreat) and Scott Graham (Fatherland, Things I Know to be True). The work will premiere at Theatre Royal Plymouth on 3rd February and tour to venues including Theatre Royal Stratford East, The Lowry, Nuffield Southampton, Bristol Old Vic, and Leicester's Curve in Spring 2020. The production sits at the centre of a year of programming celebrating 25 years of Frantic Assembly.
