The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Theatre was launched today (Wednesday 16 October), with an event in Parliament.

As the tension mounts to its bloody end, audience members, especially the few who get invited into the scene within Macbeth's castle, are drawn into the characters' lives and motives, all the while experiencing the evocative moody atmosphere of haunted, stone-walled castles. Kudos go out to the entire design team from Runco's sets, Avery Reagan and Wesley Chew's lighting design, Joseph a?oeSloea?? Slawinski's sound design, to A. Jeffrey Schoenberg's costume design which work brilliantly together with the talented acting ensemble to transport audiences into a sensory experience none will ever forget.

New casting has been announced for the multi award-winning West End production of HAMILTON as the show enters its third year at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Also announced is the release of further tickets with the show now booking in London to 28 March 2020.

This Autumn, the Royal Shakespeare Company stages a story of a nation in turmoil: King John. The timeliness of this play is not lost on director Eleanor Rhode or the company, with the news 'informing [their] conversation pretty much every day as [they] make the show'.

Queens-based theater troupe Rude Grooms released a first look and full details on the creative team for their Halloween production of The Changeling. Arcola Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company today announce the full cast for the London première of Pippa Hill and Sophie Ivatts' adaptation of #WeAreArrested by Can Dündar, a vital story about the cost of reporting the truth in the age of fake news. Ivatts directs Jamie Cameron (Son), Peter Hamilton Dyer (Can) and Indra Ové (Wife). The production opens on 18 November, with previews from 13 November and runs until 7 December.

SHOWTIME has announced that Emmy and Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo (Selma) will play the title role in the drama series THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING. The network has ordered a pilot, which is currently in pre-production and scheduled to shoot in 2020. Academy Award® winner Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects), Anthony Peckham (Invictus), Heather McQuarrie and Oyelowo will executive produce the series. Peckham is writing the adaptation. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will present Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical choreographed by original Broadway cast member Clay Thomson and starring Broadway's Sam Zeller as Trunchbull October 19, 20, and 25-27 at THE BLACK BOX in downtown Franklin, MA.

Young Actors' Theatre (YAT) is excited to announce that their next production in the 2019-2020 season is a San Diego youth theatre premiere of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical. YAT's fall production season kicks off with this inspiring story and stars our talented actors in grades 2nd to college. Joining Director Chrissy Burns on the artistic team are Matt Ignacio (Music Director), Jenn Harris (Choreographer), and Jerrica Stone (Stage Manager).

Award-winning comedy theatre company New Old Friends brings a brand new adaptation of the classic children's story, Swiss Family Robinson, to the stage for Christmas 2019. Directed by James Farrell, this high-octane production transports audiences to a remote desert island, where the shipwrecked family, dog included, must use ingenuity, inventiveness and intrigue to survive in their new environment and make friends with the creatures great and small they share it with. As the Robinsons battle against time to find shelter, food and safety, they discover some of their new neighbours are friendlier than others.

This Merchant of Venice is aimed at schoolchildren and it's a fantastic experience for them. It's also pretty good for anyone, whether a 100+ Shakespeares veteran like me or a first-timer.

King John's themes are horribly present in today's febrile political climate making it exactly the right time to revive one on Shakespeare's less performed plays.
