Dominican Singer and Guitarist Joan Soriano Perform at Zankel Hall Today

Today, January 30, at 8:30 p.m., Dominican Republic-born singer and guitarist Joan Soriano brings his 'clean, feathery guitar sound' (NPR) to Zankel Hall in a concert presented by Carnegie Hall in partnership with Robert Browning Associates LLC. The acclaimed musician has played a major role in popularizing bachata, the African- and Spanish-based soul music sometimes called the 'Dominican blues.' In this concert, Soriano is accompanied by a six-piece band that features guitars, bass, and Latin percussion.

Italian Theater Hits Get Encore Staging at IN SCENA WINTER, Feb. 4-7

Kairos Italy Theater presents IN SCENA! WINTER, a special encore presentation of two acclaimed shows from previous IN SCENA! ITALIAN THEATER FESTIVALS: Francesco Foti's NIUIORC NIUIORC (seen in 2013) and Compagnia Ragli's ITALY HAS RISEN by Rosario Mastrota (seen in 2014). Performances run February 4-7 at Bernie Wohl Center at Goddard Riverside (647 Columbus Avenue between 91st & 92nd Streets).

Heckle Her to Present LOVE ME TINDER

Heckle Her announces the opening of 'Love Me Tinder,' a musical sketch comedy revue focused on dating in the digital age. 'Love Me Tinder' runs for six performances, with opening night scheduled February 10 at 8 p.m. In this high energy, comedy filled musical revue, 'Love Me Tinder' asks, 'What is love?' In this modern age, do our devices bring us together or tear us apart? From an elderly couple looking to 'Spice It Up', to 'Hey Siri' malfunctions, 'Love Me Tinder' explores dating with devices and relationships in this Chicago-styled musical comedy.

Letter of Marque Theater Company to Present DOUBLE FALSEHOOD

Letter of Marque Theater Company, the young ensemble theater company known for staging the President's Execution of Edward Snowden, an ongoing series of underground performance parties, and offering all of its work at little or no cost to their audiences, is presenting DOUBLE FALSEHOOD, directed by Andrew Borthwick-Leslie.  First published in 1727 by Lewis Theobald, new research indicates that DOUBLE FALSEHOOD, might have actually been written by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher. DOUBLE FALSEHOOD will play a five week limited engagement from Saturday, March 5th through Saturday,  April 9th, 2016 at The Irondale Center (85 S. Oxford St. Brooklyn, NY 11217). Opening Night is Saturday, March 12th at 7:30 p.m.

BWW Review: IN THE HEIGHTS at CMPAC

When I attended In the Heights on Broadway, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Accordingly, I had the upmost confidence that the incarnation at The Noel Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center was going to be just as stellar; and it is. The wonderful production runs through February 7th at the Long Island venue.

Wendy Osserman Dance Company to Kick Off 40th Anniversary Season, 4/20

New York, NY, January 19, 2016 – The Wendy Osserman Dance Company will celebrate its 40th Anniversary season with four performances, running April 20 – 23, 2016 at 8 pm.  Presented by the Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue), the season will feature two world premieres and Osserman's Udjat (1985).  

Chance Theater's DOGFIGHT Begins 2/5

Anaheim's official resident theater company, Chance Theater is pleased to present the Los Angeles and Orange County premiere of ... Dogfight. Book by Peter Duchan, music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, directed by Matthew McCray, music direction by Taylor Stephenson, and choreographed by Angeline Mirenda. Dogfight will preview from February 5 through February 12, regular performances will begin February 13 and continue through March 6 on the Cripe Stage at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center.

Inaugural IN SCENA WINTER Begins 2/4

Lovers of Italian theater lovers won't have to wait until 4th annual IN SCENA! ITALIAN THEATER FESTIVAL NY premieres in May. Beginning February 4th, Kairos Italy Theater (KIT), the preeminent Italian theater company in New York, will present IN SCENA! WINTER. The program will feature encore performances from two past festivals: Francesco Foti's NUOIRC NUIORC  (seen in 2013) and Compagnia Ragli's ITALY HAS RISEN by Rosario Mastrota (seen in 2014). The work is far from over. Today, Netflix announced the return of the second season of the highly-anticipated and critically-acclaimed original series MARVEL'S DAREDEVILwhich will premiere on March 18, 2016 at 12:01am PT globally.

Diane Rodriguez Appointed to National Council on the Arts

Diane Rodriguez, associate artistic director at the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, California was appointed by President Obama and confirmed by the United States Senate to be a member of the National Council on the Arts, the advisory body of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Pat Catterson's NOW. Installation Event Set for NYU Tisch Later This Month

NOW. is a multimedia / performance / installation event directed and choreographed by Pat Catterson in collaboration with dance media artist Paul Galando and presented by NYU Tisch Dance and New Media Department on Saturday and Sunday, January 30 & 31, 2016 at 12 Noon. This immersive performance captures dancers in single moments in time and place performing simultaneously both in real and virtual time.

Photo Coverage: The New York Pops Presents A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS, with John Bolton!

Yesterday, December 20, in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute presented A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS in a special holiday Family Concert with  The New York Pops and Music Director Steven Reineke. This staged concert version of the iconic television special brought the whole Peanuts gang to life through original choreography by director/choreographer Liza Gennaro, as performed by dancers from New York Theatre Ballet. Returning to The New York Pops Family Concert this season, Broadway actor John Bolton (Spamalot, Contact, Titanic) narrated the classic Christmas tale, with additional characters voiced by students from TADA! Youth Theater. Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA will join The New York Pops to perform Vince Guaraldi's memorable score.
