Berkeley Symphony Perform Beethoven's 'Emperor' With Soloist Conrad Tao, 2/4

Music Director Joana Carneiro, Berkeley Symphony and composer and pianist Conrad Tao perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor,” together onThursday, February 4 at 8 pm at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley. Carneiro also leads the Orchestra in Lutos?awski's Concerto for Orchestra, an orchestral showpiece.

Mixed Magic Theatre to Stage Holiday Shows

Mixed Magic Theatre will present both of its two annual Holiday shows on Saturday, December 19th at Hope High School and Honor Distinguished Teachers, Coaches and Alums. The Honors Reception will take place at 2:00 PM in the Hope High Auditorium Lobby.

'Treasures from the House of Alba' to Open at the Frist Center

Featuring works by Dürer, Goya, Murillo, Renoir,Ribera, Rubens, and more from the splendid palaces of the Alba dynasty in Spain, Treasures from the House of Alba: 500 Years of Art and Collecting will make its second and final stop in the United States at Nashville's Frist Center for the Visual Arts from February 5 through May 1, 2016. Co-organized by the Meadows Museum and the Casa de Alba Foundation, the exhibition brings together more than 130 works of art, dating from antiquity to the twentieth century, drawn from one of the oldest and most impressive private collections in Europe.

BWW Review: MSG's A CHRISTMAS CAROL at CMPAC

Long Island certainly has some brilliant holiday productions this season. Currently running through December 29th, Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC) has mounted a delightful showing of the musical version of A Christmas Carol; the one Madison Square Garden has produced. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Ms. Ahrens with Mike Ockrent, the wonderful cast surely didn't disappoint.

Sometimes it seems there is so much theater happening that it's difficult to keep track of it all. From personal experience, despite all the datebooks, smart phones, tablets, desktop computers and laptops...it's hard to keep everything straight in this wacky business of the show.

International Bronze Medalist Kate Liu to Perform at Nichols Concert Hall in January

After capturing the Bronze Medal at the prestigious Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Kate Liu, an alumna of the Music Institute of Chicago, makes her first Chicago concert appearance on Saturday, January 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue in downtown Evanston. The concert, which the Music Institute is presenting in partnership with the Steinway Piano Galleries of Chicago, benefits the Emilio del Rosario Scholarship Fund for Young Pianists.

Ordway to Present THE HIP HOP NUTCRACKER, 11/24-25

Ordway Center for the Performing Arts announced today it will present The Hip Hop Nutcracker, Nov. 24-25. The show comes to the Ordway on its first international tour, shortly after sold-out performances in New Jersey and New York.
