Ronan Noone is both an alumnus and adjunct assistant professor of the M.F.A. Playwriting Program at Boston University. He has written a revision of his play THE ATHEIST, reimagining the satirical comedy with a female protagonist. At Boston Playwrights' Theatre, Georgia Lyman gives a robust, multi-dimensional performance as the crooked tabloid journalist who looks all too familiar in today's media landscape.

The festival is a vital part of the Huntington's new play development efforts and highlights the work of locally-based Huntington Playwriting Fellows and national writers in partnership with the Huntington. Over the last decade, Breaking Ground plays have gone on to appear at the Huntington as well as theatres in Boston, across the country, and internationally.

The Huntington is now accepting applications for the 2017-2019 Huntington Playwriting Fellows Cohort. To be eligible, writers must live at least nine months of the year in the Greater Boston area. Applications can be submitted online and all accompanying materials must be submitted via email to submissions@huntingtontheatre.org no later than 11:59PM on Thursday, October 27, 2016. Early submissions are encouraged, and submissions are read roughly in the order they are received.

The Huntington Theatre Company's annual Summer Workshop will start rehearsals on July 12 and conclude in public readings of three new plays on July 23 and 24, 2016. The workshop allows selected members of the Huntington Playwriting Fellows program two weeks to focus on developing new plays.
