Uptown Music Collective Pays Tribute to The Eagles to Millbrook Playhouse

Millbrook Playhouse (David E. Leidholdt-Producing Artistic Director, and the  Board of Directors)  is thrilled to announce that on Friday and Saturday, May 5th & 6th, the Uptown Music Collective (a nonprofit school of music, based in Williamsport, Pa) will present Life in the Fast Lane: The Story of the Eagles at the Millbrook Playhouse. The two-night performance will feature students from the school's Special Performance Group 1, who range in age from 11 to 18, performing songs from every era of the legendary band the Eagles long career. Including hit songs like The Long Run, Life in the Fast Lane, Already Gone and Desperado, performed alongside classic Eagles album tracks like Seven Bridges Road, Those Shoes, New Kid in Town, and more.

Irving Berlin's I LOVE A PIANO Brings Classic American Music to the Meadow Brook Theatre Stage

Meadow Brook Theatre is filled with the beloved music of Irving Berlin in its spring performance of "I Love a Piano." As one of the premiere composers of American Music, Berlin's classics include, "Blue Skies," "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Always," and "White Christmas," all featured in 'I Love a Piano.' This magnificent musical tells the story of a special piano as it travels through a hundred years of American lives.

BCCM to Honor The Ensemble Theatre's Artistic Director

Bayou City Concert Musicals will present the 2017 Kim Hupp Award to Eileen J. Morris, artistic director of The Ensemble Theatre. The award will be presented on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., on the Main Stage of The Ensemble Theatre, 3535 Main. The event, Serenading Eileen, will consist of a concert featuring some of the honoree's favorite songs and a reception immediately following the concert. Tickets are $75 per person. Proceeds from the event will benefit Bayou City Concert Musicals.

Exhibition Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love by Showcasing Radical Art, Architecture, and Design of the Counterculture

The University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) will launch the region-wide celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love with HIPPIE MODERNISM: THE STRUGGLE FOR UTOPIA. This major exhibition examines the intersection of the radical art, architecture, and design of the counterculture of the 1960s and early 1970s and the resonance of these innovations today. A traveling exhibition organized by the Walker Art Center and assembled with the assistance of BAMPFA, Hippie Modernism will be on view in Berkeley from February 8 through May 21, 2017. The exhibition will coincide with the first anniversary of BAMPFA's new Diller Scofidio + Renfro-designed building in downtown Berkeley.
