John C. Reilly directs the West Coast premiere of Evan Brenner's moving and enlightening one-man play, Buddha: Triumph & Tragedy In The Life Of The Great Sage. The limited four-week engagement runs February 3 - 25 at the Bootleg Theater.

Having composed the musical scores for some of the biggest films of the century so far, Alexandre Desplat has displayed an uncanny ability to tap into the thoughts, emotions and even the very dramatic themes inherent in properties as diverse as - just to use his most recent projects as examples - TWILIGHT: NEW MOON, HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, Roman Polanski's THE GHOST WRITER and CARNAGE, Stephen Daldry's upcoming EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE, George Clooney's THE IDES OF MARCH (another stage-to-screen adaptation like CARNAGE), Terrence Malick's THE TREE OF LIFE, as well as the main theme for MY WEEK WITH MARILYN - performed on the soundtrack by noted pianist Lang Lang. Discussing all aspects of his compositional process as well as outlining his interactions with the respective directors of each entity - his ongoing collaboration with Roman Polanski, first and foremost - Desplat and I delve into the delicate art of film composing and how he has achieved such great success and international acclaim for his incredibly impressive work on a heady list of projects in a relatively short period of time - last year's Best Picture Oscar-winner THE KING'S SPEECH included. Sony Pictures Classics's CARNAGE will be released in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 16th, 2011. The upcoming film adaptation of Yasmina Reza's original play and Tony Award winning Broadway production GOD OF CARNAGE! is an ensemble cast of Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, and John C. Local theatre artist Mark Kennedy, hot on the heels of world premiere solo piece Checkers produced in the 2011 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, directs the Philadelphia premiere of Ariel Dorfman's unrelentingly poetic drama Purgatorio under the brand new wings of theatre anti-company [ad hoc theatre project]. Kim Cattrall and Paul Gross will star on Broadway this autumn in Noël Coward's Private Lives directed by Richard Eyre at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street). Previews will begin Tuesday, March 27. Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, Love Never Dies, Master Class and as Christine in last month's 25th Anniversary Concert of The Phantom of the Opera in London) will play the lead role of 'I'.
