BWW Reviews: Stray Dog Theatre's Hilarious GOD OF CARNAGE

I first saw playwright Yasmina Reza's play, GOD OF CARNAGE, at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis before catching Roman Polanski's film adaptation (screenplay by Reza), which was simply called Carnage. It's an undeniably strong story that tells us a lot about how people behave, especially the feelings that we keep buried beneath the surface. Simply put, it's a comedy of manners that utilizes an unfortunate occurrence to bring together two sets of parents for a civilized discussion about the matter. But, once the alcohol begins to flow emotions and points of view start to skew in interesting directions that lift the veneer of civility. Stray Dog Theatre has put together an entertaining production of this fine work (translation by Christopher Hampton) that never fails to engage. A thoroughly game cast and sharp direction combine to produce superb theatre.

SHARON TATE IN HEAVEN with Jen Danby Returning to Los Angeles

This American Blonde Actress and Mississippi Mud Productions announce the return of SHARON TATE IN HEAVEN to Los Angeles January 24-25 for two shows only at the famed Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute's Marilyn Monroe Theatre. It is a 'birthday' tour of Sharon Tate in Heaven in LA, coinciding with Sharon Tate's birthday (b. January 24, 1943). It includes new material inspired by the last LA tour. Written and performed by This American Blonde Actress, Jen Danby (THE BLONDE BOMBSHELL PROJECT: MARILYN MONROE, Nina in SEAGULL69, an adaptation by Mississippi Mud of Chekhov's SEAGULL set in LA in summer 1969), and developed by research into videos, virtual explorations, books, pictures, interviews, films, and trekking through LA, it's a celebration of love and a Valentine. SHARON TATE IN HEAVEN is a playful and tender one-woman odyssey set as an imagined TV interview in Heaven.
