National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman, together with TheatreSquared (T2) Artistic Director Robert Ford and Managing Director Martin Miller, announced today that T2 has been selected to receive a $20,000 NEA Art Works Grant to support the theatre's Arkansas New Play Festival. With performances scheduled for June 13-16, 2013 in both Fayetteville and at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock, the Festival will bring together more than 50 artists from across the nation to develop and perform new plays for the American stage.

Mayor Nutter announced that the City of Philadelphia's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) will receive a $200,000 grant from ArtPlace, a new national collaboration of foundations, banks and federal agencies formed to accelerate creative place-making across the U.S. OACCE is one of three organizations in Philadelphia receiving support in 2012: University City District (UCD) and Asian Arts Initiative are also receiving ArtPlace support for their place-making projects.
American Lyric Theater has been selected by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to receive a $20,000 grant to support its Composer Librettist Development Program (CLDP), a full-time resident artist program for emerging opera composers and librettists. Artists are selected through an open application process to participate in the tuition-free program that provides professional training by renowned and respected artists including composer-librettist Mark Adamo, composer Anthony Davis, librettist Michael Korie, and dramaturg Cori Ellison.
The Frist Center for the Visual Arts will once again join Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment of the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 1,500 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2012. National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Rocco Landesman announced that the NEA will award $20,000 to the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) to support their production of Romeo and Juliet during the 2012 season. The production which runs in repertory with Love's Labour's Lost and The 39 Steps is being directed by Associate Artistic Director Christopher V. Edwards. The 2012 season begins on Tuesday, June 12 and the first performance of Romeo and Juliet is on Wednesday, June 13 at 7pm.
