Thanks to a grant from Humanities Washington, whose mission it is to spark conversation and critical thinking using story as a catalyst, Bainbridge Performing Arts has prepared a free community outreach series for The Kentucky Cycle. The public series opens with a discussion with retired BHS American Studies teacher Ralph Cheadle and director Kate Carruthers on February 28, Winter's Bone - a film screening and discussion on March 5, and a presentation by Robert Schenkkan, author of The Kentucky Cycle on March 20. The outreach efforts will culminate in three weekends of performances of the epic play March 12 - 30 at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for the world premiere of a new comedy by Theresa Rebeck, Fool. In Rebeck's new comedy, two kings get together and place a wager on their fools - a jester competition, and the funniest one gets to keep his head. Two evil minions have a lot to say about this, but not as much as the kitchen wench. And what's the queen been up to all night? The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2014 preview performances begin February 14, and the season will open Friday night, February 21 in the Angus Bowmer Theatre with Shakespeare's The Tempest (director, Tony Taccone). On Saturday, Lorraine Hansberry's The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window (Juliette Carrillo) takes the stage, as does the classic Marx Brothers musical The Cocoanuts (David Ivers), and Sunday afternoon Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors (Kent Gash) opens in the Thomas Theatre.

The producers of All the Way, the new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan (The Kentucky Cycle), havea announced that The Neil Simon Theatre Box Office (250 West 52nd Street) will open on Monday, January 20th (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) at 10:00 a.m. and will offer a special advance student price for one day only. Unlike other regular student rush offers, which limit purchases for day-of only, the producers are offering students with a valid ID the chance to purchase tickets at $37 for all performances through April 6, 2014.
