After a triumphant, six-year run on Broadway, AVENUE Q moved to New World Stages, opening there on October 21 and continuing to play to large houses filled with enthusiastic audiences eight times a week. On the occasion of its second anniversary, AVENUE Q played its 835th performance at New World Stages. In the photo below, Rod celebrates Thanksgiving!

On Monday night, the Dramatists Guild of America hosted its annual Awards Night at the Players Club in New York City. The ceremony was hosted by David Henry Hwang and recognized the works of Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park), John Kander, Fred Ebb and David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys), Robert Lopez, Trey Parker and Matt Stone (The Book of Mormon), Christopher Durang and Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Paula Vogel.

Philippine Development Foundation ('PhilDev') just presented PhilDev Celebrates Broadway: Suites by Sondheim, on Monday night, November 7 at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City. Headlining the event were Tony Award winners Robert Lopez, who was honored with an Award of Excellence, and international star Lea Salonga. Lea Salonga, Adam Jacobs, Ali Ewoldt, Jose Llana, and Angel Desai led a company of mostly Filipino-American Broadway actors in SUITES BY SONDHEIM, a tribute concert to American musical theater icon Stephen Sondheim, at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center last night. THE BOOK OF MORMON's co-book writer, co-composer, and co-lyricist Robert Lopez, who's part-Filipino, was also honoured with an Award of Excellence at the concert.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC has just picked up a new comedy pilot from Tony nominee Josh Gad. Titled 1600 Penn, the pilot is about 'a dysfunctional family that just happens to live at the most famous address in America.' Gad will executive produce the project along with Jon Lovett and Jason Winer.
