Disney's Broadway-bound musical FROZEN has a new creative team in place. Tony winning director Michael Grandage will take the helm of the production, replacing Alex Timbers, who departed the show in August.

The 46th season of The Theatre Company of the University of Detroit Mercy will launch Sept. 22-Oct. 9, 2016, with the Michigan premiere of Kenneth Jones' fact-inspired drama Alabama Story, a play with unique ties to The Motor City. 

If you're one of those people who feels as though this Presidential election campaign has been a 'joke' or 'no laughing matter' or somewhere in between, take heart: the long-running, Tony Award-winning musical comedy Avenue Q (now in its 13th year in NYC) is entering the race, as it were, with the addition of a Hillary Clinton puppet and Donald Trump puppet to its acting company of people and puppets.

Particularly over the past several years, the Tony winning musical Avenue Q has become a favorite show of mine. It is emotional, hilarious, relatable, and an original American production utilizing the fascinating art of puppetry. Now running through October 1st at Long Island's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC), this wonderfully executed production is superbly directed by Heather Van Velsor who additionally operates the puppets Kate Monster and Lucy in the show.

Twenty-five years ago, Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' broke ground as the first animated feature film to receive an Academy Award® nomination for best picture, and now this tale as old as time has joined the Walt Disney Signature Collection on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere, and on Sept. 20 on Blu-ray and DVD. 

Frozen fans may still have to wait years until a stage version of the animated hit takes its first bow on Broadway, but here's a little treat to hold you over.
