RUINED Makes Its London Debut At The Almeida Theatre 4/15/2010-6/5/2010

The Goodman Theatre-commissioned, Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined by Lynn Nottage will have another life overseas at London's famed Almeida Theatre this spring, April 15 - June 5, 2010.

Indhu Rubasingham directs Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize winning Ruined, previewing at the Almeida from 15 April, with press night on 22 April and booking until 5 June 2010. Designs are by Robert Jones with lighting by OIiver Fenwick, original music by Dominic Kanza and sound by Christopher Shutt.

The enormously popular production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC cannot seem to satisfy audience demand. The record-breaking run was scheduled to end on January 3, 2010 after 15 sensational months. But audiences want more, so producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish have had to give in and quickly organize one more week of the classic musical. THE SOUND OF MUSIC will enjoy eight more performances, now ending on January 10, 2010.

Burke Replaces 'Burke' as Captain Von Trapp in Toronto's THE SOUND OF MUSIC, 12/8

Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish have welcomed Simon Burke to their Toronto production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Burke, a versatile star of stage and screen originally from Australia but with a large body of work in the U.K., will take over the role of Captain von Trapp, having played the role in the West End London production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, opposite the 'Marias' of Connie Fisher and Summer Strallen.

Julie Goodyear will make her London and legit stage debut in the smash-hit West End play 'CALENDAR GIRLS' starring as ‘Cora - Miss July'. A household name, Julie became a national treasure after starring as ‘Bet Lynch' in 'Coronation Street' for 25 years. Kelly Brook will bare all as ‘Celia - Miss September'. Janie Dee, triple ‘Best Actress' award-winner for Alan Ayckbourn's 'Comic Potential', will play ‘Annie - Miss February'. Helen Lederer, one of Britian's best-known comediennes, will play ‘Marie', leader of the Yorkshire branch of the WI. Debbie Chazen, best-known as a regular in 'Doctor Who' and as the star of 'TittyTittyBangBang' on BBC3, will play ‘Ruth'.
