Yale Repertory Theatre announces a series of special free public events on the Yale campus, in New Haven, and in New York City, to celebrate its 50th Anniversary Season.

Yale Repertory Theatre, celebrating 50 years of daring artists, bold choices, and adventurous audiences, presents the world premiere of Scenes from Court Life, or the whipping boy and his prince by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Mark Wing-Davey, now through October 22 at Yale University Theatre (222 York Street). Opening Night is tonight, October 6.

Abingdon Theatre Company will present two world-premiere plays and a new musical in the June Havoc Theatre as part of its 2016-2017 Season of new works by established and emerging writers, marking the first full season programmed by Artistic Director Tony Speciale.

Abingdon Theatre Company has added Lindsay Mendez and Sally Ann Triplett to its benefit reading of Orson Welles' WAR OF THE WORLDS. The one-night only event, directed by Abingdon's Artistic Director Tony Speciale, will be held on Monday, October 24 at 7:00pm at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, NYC). Abingdon Theatre Company will present a star-studded benefit reading of Orson Welles' WAR OF THE WORLDS, featuring Mario Cantone, David Greenspan, Martin Moran, Stark Sands, Michael Urie, and other artists to be announced.

The Chicago Premiere of playwright Matty Selman's "Uncle Philip's Coat" will run at the Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N. Lincoln Ave) Nov. 27 - Dec. 31. Directed by Elizabeth Margoliusand starring Gene Weygandt (best known as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in "Wicked" in Chicago and on Broadway), "Uncle Philip's Coat" follows Matty on his humorous and heartfelt journey of personal discovery, sparked by his inheritance of a tattered coat from his eccentric Russian-Jewish immigrant uncle Philip.

A limited Off-Broadway engagement will begin previews on June 11, as part of Abingdon's 2015-2016 Season, with an official press opening scheduled for June 23. Tickets are now on sale through July 3. Tony Speciale is set to direct the world-premiere production, which marks his inaugural programming as Artistic Director.
