The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway has become the place to see everyone's favorite storybook and fairy tale characters come to life on the stage. From its own original adaptations to those direct from the movies and television, the Children's Theatre provides entertainment the entire family can enjoy. Audiences during the 2015 Season have already gotten to spend an afternoon with the Berenstain Bears and journey down the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy and her friends from Oz. This fall, audiences will go on a jungle adventure with Disney's The Jungle Book.

Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, kicks off its 2015-2016 season with a bang -- Ian Fleming's "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" to be exact! The production will run weekends at 1 p.m. on Sept. 19, 20, 26, 27, and Oct. 3, 4 with an additional performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26. All Performances will be held in the Administration Building Lecture Hall, 7201 Rossville Blvd. The Sunday, Oct. 4, performance will be sign-language interpreted by students in the American Sign Language Certificate Program at CCBC Catonsville. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online at www.cpmarts.org or from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787) from Tuesdays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Based on availability, tickets may be purchased at the door.

Samuel French has announced the winners of the 2015 Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival, the nation's leading short play competition. The six winning plays were presented in a Showcase on Sunday, August 9th at the conclusion of the week-long festival at the East 13th Street Theater (Classic Stage Company). Directed and designed by Tom Thayer, with choreography by Philadelphia choreographer Jenn Rose, lighting design by Noel Rennerfeldt, flying effects by ZFX, costumes by Premiere Clothing and Debby Dowlen, hats by Blanche's Place, and sound sequencing by The MT Pit, the cast will feature local youth in the roles of Michael and Jane. Nate Miller and Kylan Ritchie will play one set of children, while Riley Jenkins and Virginia Richardson will double during the run of the show.
