Philly POPS Performs Hollywood Soundtracks This Weekend

The Philly POPS tips its hat to America's blockbuster films during Epic Hollywood Soundtracks from this weekend, April 10-12, 2015. Music Director Michael Krajewski created this program featuring The Philly Pops Festival Chorus, a volunteer 125-voice chorus directed by Jeff Kern, who will join him in bringing his vision to life. This performance will include popular selections from Gone with the Wind, Ben Hur, Dances With Wolves, Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings. On Today, April 10 (8 p.m.), Saturday, April 11 (3 p.m.), and Sunday, April 12 (3 p.m.), Epic Hollywood Soundtracks will take place at Verizon Hall of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Conducted by Philly POPS Music Director Michael Krajewski, DeSare will perform the great jazz standards from the classic American Songbook and add new standards that bring a contemporary touch to this collection of music. Encore Series, Inc, the presenter of The Philly POPS, is pleased to introduce this exciting series of concerts which begins in October, 2014 with the Era of ABBA, followed by Classic Soul. It continues with a salute to the American Songbook Then and Now and a visit to the movies with Epic Hollywood Soundtracks. The season ends with the Legends of Rock.

Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski will lead the Rock Tenors -three vocal talents from the worlds of rock, country, Broadway, and opera- in an evening of rock hits with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO). The concerts will take place this weekend, May 9-10, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.
