 ZACH Theatre announces cast for the Austin premiere of the Tony Award-winning hit, Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical, running April 3 - May 12, 2019 in The Topfer.  Based on the much-loved children's book by Roald Dahl, featuring music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and a Tony Award-winning book by Dennis Kelly, ZACH's Associate Artistic Director Abe Reybold and Director of Education Nat Miller will co-direct this riotously uplifting musical that will make audiences of all generations burst with joy.

David Walliams' hilarious novel about love and the things money can't buy, Billionaire Boy, will be brought to life on stage at Riverside Theatres on 9th March, The Concourse in Chatswood from 12th to 14th March and the Seymour Centre from 15th to 17th March.

It is always exciting when a beloved story from one's childhood receives new life on the stage. It is especially thrilling when it's a piece with such sweet potential as Roald Dahl's classic tale, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. With the original book, the classic Gene Wilder film (and other film adaptations) and recent London and Broadway musical productions setting the stage, this fun new musical will take the Bushnell stage in Hartford, CT from February 19 - 24.  Playing Augustus Gloop, one of the nasty children who finds a golden ticket to tour Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, will be Matt Wood, who sat down with me to talk about this entertaining, family-friendly show.

British author Roald Dahl is well known for his dark humor, quirky characters, and unexpected twists and turns. Among his most popular works are Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. In 1961 he wrote James and the Giant Peach. James and the Giant Peach was adapted for television, film, and the stage. Among the stage versions is the dramatization by Richard R. George, which can be enjoyed at DreamWrights Center for Community Arts.

Sometimes a show completely defies expectations. And in the case of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, that's a good thing. I settled into my seat at the Durham Performing Arts Center Tuesday night and drew forth my pen, my weapon choice, completely prepared to obliterate this production. Then the music started. Cue the ensemble. "Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew…" Suddenly there I was, smiling, strangely finding comfort in the familiar, when I heard a sound that would completely disarm me. A nine-year-old kid behind me named Blake laughed, an infectious sort of laugh that served as a bit of a wake-up call that this show wasn't calculated for me. This show, this moment, and this performance belonged to him and every other dewy-eyed kid in the audience.

The Muny announced today that critically-acclaimed St. Louis artist Mary Engelbreit will provide the inspiration for its final production of the 101st season, Matilda, August 5-11. 

Children's Theatre Company (CTC) is proud to announce the production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical, running April 28 through June 23, 2019, written by Dennis Kelly, music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and directed by Peter C. Brosius.

Matilda The Musical is coming to Edmonton this month. The stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved children's story is a delightful spectacle filled with music, magic, and maggots (or children, as they are more commonly known). After a sold-out run in Winnipeg, this co-production with Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and Arts Club Theatre Company runs February 16 to March 17 in the Shoctor Theatre.

The Broadway Grand Rapids 2019-20 season will include some of the biggest blockbusters on Broadway, including a three-week run of HAMILTON.
