BWW Interviews: Girl-Talk With Andrea McArdle

Andrea McArdle talks with BroadwayWorld about 4 GIRLS 4: A CHRISTMAS TOGETHER , a star vehicle with Maureen McGovern, Donna McKechnie, and Faith Prince driving into Boston next week for one night at The Wilbur Theatre. A modernization of the original show which starred Rosemary Clooney, this version presents four fabulous musical stars who each take a turn performing their signature material and some music of the season, with Music Direction by John McDaniel.

This evening of song, dance, and laughter starring award winning Broadway, film, TV and recording artists and with music direction by John McDaniel will play The Bushnell's Belding Theater on December 1; The Wilbur Theatre in Boston on December 2 and 710 Main Theatre in Buffalo on December 3. 4 GIRLS 4 is presented by producers Matthew Lombardo and Rick Murray.

BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the longest operating performance venue in lower Manhattan, in partnership with Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), presents blessing the boats: the remix, a re-imagining of an original play written and performed by Sekou Sundiata, performing today, June 27-29 at 8pm and June 30 at 3pm at TPAC, Theater 2 (199 Chambers Street). This performance has been co-commissioned by LMCC and BMCC, presented as part ofBlink Your Eyes: Sekou Sundiata Revisited, a citywide retrospective produced by MAPP International Productions, and as part of the River To River Festival 2013.Tickets are FREE, but first come, first served - box office opens 45 min. prior to curtain.

First come, first served - box office opens 45 min. prior to curtain blessing the boats: the remix is a re-imagining of Sekou Sundiata's acclaimed solo theater work, blessing the boats. Director Rhodessa Jones revisits Sundiata's story of life-threatening illness and recovery as told through the unique interplay of three poet/performers: Will Power, Carl Hancock Rux, and Mike Ladd. These compelling voices revive Sundiata's incisive writing, finding the universal in the particular and exploring the ritual, humor and compassion of his play. This remix encompasses language, music, and visual projections of healing and hope.

Subsequent performances of BELL will also take place through today, March 23, 2013 at 7:30pm in New York Live Arts' Theater. There will be a Live Stream of the performance tonight, March 23 at 7:30pm, Eastern Standard Time, at newyorklivearts.org. Prior to the performances, Yokoshi will also lead a Shared Practice Workshop in the third floor studio at New York Live Arts on February 23 from 1:30-3:30pm (complete details below).
