Four talented emerging playwrights of color - members of the 2016 INKtank Playwrights Lab -  will unveil their exciting new works when Rising Circle Theater Collective presents its 7th annual PlayRISE Festival, a series of staged readings featuring some of New York City's most exciting theatre artists of color. The festival will run from June 16-19 at The Sheen Center (18 Bleecker Street in Manhattan).

On Monday, March 23, the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre, will present a special event for Women's History month, Writing Plays By, For, or About Women. The event will be from 6pm to 8pm at Theater Lab at 357 W. 36th St. on the 3rd floor, focusing on the roles of women in today's theater. The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), as part of an initiative called Women Count, are pleased to present an analysis of women employed Off-Broadway in the four most recent theatrical seasons. A number of efforts to count, study, analyze and report on the status of women in theatre, in recent years, have focused on playwrights and directors. This new study looks at a broader range of professional roles with a specific focus on Off-Broadway productions.

The play, a co-production between Interart Theatre Development Series and MultiStages New Works Contests, is part of the League of Professional Theatre Women's "30 Plays Celebrate 30 Years Series". The cast features Richarda Abrams*, Jen Anaya, Debra Cardona* (Mary Poppins: National Tour, On The Twentieth Century: Goodspeed Opera House), Pedro Carmo (Pan Am), Veronica Cruz* (Ariel Dorfman's Widows: 59 E 59 St. Theatres), Alexis Lauren Kinney*, Lina Sarrello* and Alexis Sweeney. *(Members of Actors' Equity)
