Almost-normal in association with The Landor Theatre present LUCKY STIFF from Wednesday 1st to Saturday 25th February 2012. It has a book and lyrics by LYNN AHRENS and music by STEPHEN FLAHERTY. LUCKY STIFF is based on "The Man Who Broke The Bank at Monte Carlo" by Michael Butterworth. It was first produced by Playwrights Horizons Inc. off-Broadway in 1988. It was the winner of the 1988 Richard Rodgers Production Award.

While watching 3D Theatricals' largely pleasing stage production of the enduring Rodgers/Hammerstein Broadway classic THE SOUND OF MUSIC--now playing at the Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, CA through February 26--one can't help but be reminded of just how great the more popular, Oscar-winning movie musical version truly is compared to its parental stage roots. Luckily, their winsome, beautifully-staged revival manages to overcome the presence of the stage version's flaws and ultimately comes off as smile-inducing, family-friendly production that all ages will find utterly beguiling.

James William Productions and Stephenie Skyllas will present Kurt Peterson and Victoria Mallory in When Everything Was Possible, A Concert (with comments), for one night only, Sunday April 29th (7:30pm) at New York City Center (131 West 55th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues), as a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. They will be joined by a thirteen-piece band (Michael Rafter, Music Director), playing new orchestrations by Tony Award winner Jonathan Tunick. Larry Moss directs, with musical staging by Joshua Bergasse ("Smash"). Carolyn Wong will provide lighting design, with sound design by Leon Rothenberg and projection design by Telegraphicmedia.

Kathy Evans, Founder and Executive Director of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced that applications for summer 2012 are now being accepted. Musical theatre writers may apply as a team with one musical. The Rhinebeck Writers Retreat provides one-week residencies for writers to work on their musical in a home just outside of Rhinebeck, New York. There will be seven retreats offered in July and August. Applications are due February 15th and there is a submission fee of $25. The Broadway at Birdland concert series has just announced that Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony-winning orchestrator JONATHAN TUNICK is returning to Birdland with his Broadway Moonlighters on Monday, March 19 at 7pm. This is a rare public performance by Broadway's premier orchestrator, who will be leading a big band of Broadway's finest musicians in his own arrangements. Tunick's last appearance with the Broadway Moonlighters (with surprise guest vocalist Barbara Cook) was Standing Room Only, and of course, another Surprise Guest performer will appear this year!

Continuing its 25th Anniversary Season, the Shakespeare Theatre Company is set to present Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Strange Interlude.
