Mel Brooks' quirky musical Young Frankenstein is making its West End premiere at London's Garrick Theatre. Based on the 1974 Oscar-nominated film co-written with Thomas Meehan and starring Gene Wilder, the brand new production follows a Broadway run that closed in 2009. The winner will perform with the NEP at their annual family concert "Musical Characters," on December 13th at the Tsai Performance Center. The concert will include John Harbison's "Remembering Gatsby," George Antheil's "Tom Sawyer," and Rob Kapilow's "Elijah's Angel" featuring soloists Sarah Pelletier, soprano, David Kravitz, baritone, and Dana Whiteside, baritone as well as the Boston City Singers, Jane Money, Director.
The New England Philharmonic (NEP) has selected "Spectre of the Spheres" by David Hertzberg, winner of their 30th annual Call for Scores. The composition will receive its Boston premiere by the NEP under the direction of Richard Pittman at their April 30, 2016 concert. The concert will also feature the world premiere of an NEP commission from David Rawkowski, Symphony No. 6, Alban Berg's Violin Concerto ("To the Memory of an Angel") featuring soloist, Danielle Maddon and Jean Sibelius' "The Oceanides."
