Aurora Theatre Continues Funny Fridays, 8/20
by Nicolas Coburn - Aug 6, 2010

Aurora Theatre continues our series of club comedy on the Lawrenceville square, Funny Fridays with a huge night of hilarity on August 20 with shows at 7:15 pm & 9:15 pm . The evening will offer stand-up comedy from three very funny fellows. Audiences will love our special guest host for the evening comedian Chelsie Rice, whose style is clearly influenced by the old-school greats Redd Foxx, Don Rickles, and Flip Wilson just to name a few. The featured act for the evening is one of the founders of Affirmative Action Comedy, Steve Haigh. Steve is a great down to earth observational comedian, and the perfect compliment to our Headliner, the geeky-chic Mike Haun.

MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT is the 500th Production At Music Circus; Opens 7/9
by BWW News Desk - Jul 9, 2010

The Sacramento Music Circus production of Monty Python's 'Spamalot,' opening at the Wells Fargo Pavilion on July 9, will mark a few firsts. It will be the first time a regional theatre has been given the rights to produce the Tony Award-winning best musical. It will also be the first time the musical has been produced in the round. And significantly for the region's largest arts organization, it will be the first time in its history that California Musical Theatre has hosted a regional theatre premiere. But among the firsts, there is another milestone. 'Spamalot' will be the 500th opening night for Music Circus at the corner of 15th and H Streets.

BWW Reviews: Mustard Seed Theatre's Production of TARTUFFE is Delightful and Hilarious
by Chris Gibson - Apr 26, 2010

Some people cannot be convinced of something unless they see it with their own two eyes, and even then they can be skeptical. This is a problem that Orgon, a character from Moliere's classic comedy TARTUFFE faces. Everyone around him, except his Mother, seems to understand that the man that Orgon has taken in has a less than stellar past, and that he's up to no good. But Orgon's blindness, even in the face of being confronted with eyewitness accounts, works against him taking any action against a man he sees as being perfectly pious. Mustard Seed Theatre has produced a funny and extremely well cast version of this play, and it's required viewing for anyone looking for something a little light and easy to take.
